I know it might sound crazy, but I miss my period! I had a very regular cycle before I started taking birth control pills, but when I stopped taking them I stopped having my period. My doctor had me take a drug called Provera to "give me a period" (which worked) but since then, no period . She wants me to take birth control again to have a regular period. I don't want to be on ANY medicine. Has anyone else had this problem? This is also called secondary amenorrhea.

I wonder how I would go about taking someone else's period? Would you mail it to me, or would I have to come pick it up?? J/K. I really think that the reason I haven't had a regular cycle is because of the birth control pills. Maybe the drug companies should put that as a side effect!

Ok, now I feel really foolish. I have to apologize because I really thought you were much younger. Only after reading one of your comments about your husband did I realize you are an adult. I am so sorry. Look at it this way, when you are 50, you will still look 30! Good luck to you.

Lol. I hope I look 30 when I am 50. That would be awesome! Don't worry about the age thing. I still appreciate your story and for writing.

Melissa,
I am here in Germany and we have a lot of Homeopathic Medicine. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and I am taking these herbs called Agnucaston. They are also helping you to become regular with your period. Now I don't know if you are able to find them in the US, try google. I will too. Also the other day I was searching for infertility help (organic) and I went to this website www.drchristophersherbshop.com and ordered me some. I also remember seeing some to become regular, check it out, hope it helped. Take care

HMMMMM, I just checked it on google and it is FDA approved, so just ask your ND about it. But I was told here it was natural and I got it without a prescription. My girlfriend got regular on it and some of her friends got pregnant on it. Anyway......good luck!!

I think doctors are so silly. Giving birth control pills does not give a woman a true period. But there are a lot of herbs that can help. Vitex (also known as Chasteberry) is a good one that can help balance the hormones and get a regular period going again.

Thanks for the information. :o)

I hear ya. I was put on the pill at about 25 to regulate my period because when I gained some weight my periods got irregular. So I lost the weight and my periods got regular. Here lately though, just these last 6 months or so, I've been on a mission to get off drugs and saying no to surgery. So I've been trying to eliminate the drugs I'm on and one of the first to go was my birth control pills. Unfortunately though that means my periods go back to being irregular, but I take that over taking the pills. I was on Yasmin and I liked them, but I'm done being on drugs. Over the counter is harder to get off of, but I'm trying to get other forms slowly but surely.

This is an old post, but I had a similar problem. If you're still here, I'll be happy to share my experience. Let me know.

Hello ladies!!

I've always been an 'au natural' sort of person, so never succumbed to any doctors persuading me to take any sort of drugs or hormones. Thank goodness, I was born with the idea that I didn't NEED any help and that I could keep myself healthy and that my body could heal itself. I just never went to doctors - I'm from England, and we tend to go by the motto 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' so since I was never sick, I never went to the damn doctor!!

Maybe I was just lucky, but that is how it has happened. I have never had to take any type of drug, or have any sort of surgery.

My cycle was always really regular, right up until a few months ago when it went from being a regular 24 day cycle to 36 days and even once it was 60 days. (I am almost 47) I go to an 'alternative' practitioner and he gave me some of his 'alternative' treatments and I also took a herbal formula - Female Balance. It is really helping to normalize the cycle again. I don't know if I am allowed to give the name and source of this formula, but these herbal formulae are excellent - the doctor has many great natural remedies.

Sorry for all the blab - I never manage to write anything in short!!!

Have you tried taking iodine.

Maca herb is supposed to also be good for such things.

You might also try natural progesterone or wild yam (effects the body similar to using progesterone).
