dentist fillings
Just went to the dentist a few days ago. They worked on 4 cavaties all from my upper left side of my mouth. The bill came out to be $1,450.00
Now is this a little too much to be paying for cavaties>??? It is a holistic place BUT they take insurance, so i'm a bit confused as to why the prices are soooo high.....does this sound like i was ripped off?
Also, i'm not sure if there is another post about this anywhere, but I had a disagreement with a coworker of mine- He believes the silver fillings are better, and last longer than the white fillings. Now I always believed based on my readings that silver, mercury fillings were toxic to the system, my dentist even believes this and agrees with me.....however, my coworker insists that my dentist is lying, it's a fraud,any input on this topic?? do you believe silver fillings are harmless?

Hi, thanks for responding. Yeah, I know that is why it sucks, cause you really never know, how big the cavaty was. they told me i Had a pretty big cavaty, but they did not drill for that long. I don't know, i've had cavaties before, and it would cost me $90, i never experienced close to $400 to get a cavaty fixed.
I don't know....I took a criminology class and they said, car dealers and dentists were the top stealers when it comes to people's money, and that's because you can't prove it you know....sucks really badly.

before i had this appointment....they did the lower left side of my mouth for 3 cavaties, and it cost $2,500 so a total so far of almost $4,000
after thinking about them only doing my left side of my mouth for $4,000 I think i'm going to find another dentist.
I still have my right side cavaties, and they are estimating the cost to be over $2,000
does not seem right to me....

NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!! They are VERY dangerous. I will be having all my amalgam fillings removed this year by a holistic dentist I sent my daughter to yesterday! There isn't one in my city so I have to drive 7 1/2 hours. My daughter will be sending me an email link which will give details on the danger of the amalgam fillings so I'll post here as soon as I receive it! Regarding the cost .... I'm not sure. Our insurance will cover removal & replacement as long as the fillings are over 2 years old. There are extra costs but I hope to provide more info for you once I get the website link.

and the thing is they are not supposed to charge me extra when they took my silver fillings out, because my cavatiy was under the silver filling i had. But it seems like they did charge me extra for that, even though when I asked they said they did not. yeah right!
Mel, sounds good, once you print it on the site, i'll make a copy for my coworker to look at. I think hes biased cause his brother in law is a regular dentist.
Wow, 71/2 hours!!!!!! that is crazy, but I guess it's worth it in the end. your dentist might as well do yur whole mouth in one sitting. lol. I do know what you mean though, in jersey, there is only 1 holistic dentist that i'm aware of that is 1 hour and 15 min away from my house.....since i'm moving down south, the dentist will be well over 2/12 hours....that however is nothing compared to 71/2 hours. what state do you live in that does not have at least 1 holistic dentist? that must suck.

nedalie, yeah, no root canals....just cavaties. I really don't knw why it cost so much- oh well. I was ripped off. lol

thanks, i' do think yu are right.....I don't think there is another dentist though that is holistic in jersey :(
I might have to do what mel did and go to the next state. lol it's so sad how there's so few of these guys around up in the north.

This is something I need to work on....finding a holistic dentists! I still go to my regular dentists but I only have cleanings using non flouridated cleanser and opt out for the xrays. I had mine removed years ago also and replaced with the white fillings. I heard somewhere that these can be just as bad if they have any heavy metals in them! Does anyone know? I took my son for his first teeth cleaning and they used a non flouridated cleanser on him as well and said that they don't even do xrays until they are four years old. I still would like to find a holistic dentists in case of ever needing any other work done on my teeth.

NO Wendy! The improper removal of mercury fillings can cause more harm than good! Mercury is a deadly poison only second to plutonium. During the removal process you can be exposed to mercury thousands of times higher than allowable levels. I had it done the ole conventional way as well.....just could not afford it and I wanted THEM OUT any way I could get them out. Im not sure the composit they used is 100% metal free! How do you know if it's metal free or not? Maybe in a few years I can go see a holistic dentist and have these removed as well and replaced. Im hoping to start some chlorella this summer for heavy metal detoxing!
