So, right now I am using products by California Baby on my son! After being reminded of all the chemicals and crap in most products, even so called natural ones, im really looking for the best for my son. Im going to try to use more of the miessence products for me but for him, I just don't know! I was looking into try ing Aubreys Organics on him but does anyone else know of a truly NATURAL skincare line gentle enough for babies and young children? BTW, I ordered that book called (The Chemical Maze) that Michelle recommended! I can't wait to start using it!

Kaley,

I've been hoping to try this with my DS! Although I would love to use everything by miessence I may not be able to afford it. I think Aubrey Organics is a great line and use them myself. TRULY natural like miessence is! The only thing is DS has mild eczema and I wasn't sure about the Soy ingrdients in the baby wash, etc with allergies! Anyone know?

Michelle,

I may be ordering some facial wash for myself soon, slowly trying to convert as I run out of what I have! I will have to try it on DS. THe only thing is I may not be able to afford using everything by Miessence but I will try to start using a few at first. Thanks...I did see that on the back of the sample you sent me that it was safe for babies. I just don't want to use anything that would aggravate his mild eczema. I give him probiotics but im a little dissapointed that it hasn't helped more than it has!

Michelle,

Now that you've got me intersted in Miessence what products do you recommend the most? I know you like all of them but I may only be able to use a few and the rest by Aubrey Organics...so which ones would you highly recoomend?

Michelle,

I know it's not fair!LOL I really did enjoy using those samples! My husband is begging to use up my exfoliant sample and im mad because I wanted to use it. Maybe this will be a good way of talking him into using more of the Miessence products. Also, when we have used up the probiotic we have now I will see about getting some of the In_Liven for him. We are using some by Natren Probiotics at the time and I think they have helped but im ready to see a complete turnaround.

For me, I think I will order some facial wash to try first and then when I run out of the makeup I will try that also. Once I have used up my facial lotion I will try that also. How long does the facial wash and lotion usually last? Sorry for all the questions...im really just desperate and have no idea what im doing! BTW, those testimonials are fantastic!

Michelle,

I have a combination skin that is oily and then dry in some areas. As Im getting older (im only 29) im finding that my skin is becoming dryer but I still have regular breakouts. What facial wash should I use and what are the other two products you mentioed? Is the conditioner a facial moisturizer? How does all that work? I probally will place an order with you either at the end of the month of the beginning of next month. Im so excited! I really wish I could use more of the products but our finances just will not allow it at the time. I may have to go with Dr. Bronners for my son. Dr. Bronners products look really pure too!

Michelle,

Thanks again!

I would stick to the simple stuff as it is cheaper to do so. Dr. Bronners soap is an awesome soap the entire family can use, my sister uses it on her baby (and it has helped my stretch marks). And for a cheap lotion you can use is coconut oil on him (also works to prevent diaper rash).

Aubrey Organics is one of the better over-the-counter lines and seems to be readily available at most health-oriented stores now. That having been said, there are still a few ingredients of which I am not too fond. Specifically their use of hydrolyzed proteins (soy, oat, and elastin (bovine)). The fact that their website even calls these substances "naturally-derived" leads me to question their credibility in other areas. I'd rate them a 7 (out of 10).

Miessence is a far superior line in my opinion, however I can appreciate that it's also more expensive. I'd rate them a 9 (I can't give them any higher since I've never used them).

I'm with Kortni on this one. When in doubt, K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Silly*). I stopped using lotions awhile ago, and only use coconut oil now. Granted, I have an advantage as I don't have hair to wash or condition, but I do have to shave frequently, and have found aloe vera to make an excellent shaving gel. I also use Dr. Bronner's soaps and would consider them to be of VERY high caliber. I'd rate Dr. B's a 9.5.

We have to keep in mind that soap really is NOT a natural product. It's not like we can just pick it off of a tree or grow it in a garden. That having been said, if we're going to use soaps, they should really be as close to their natural forms as possible.

*or whatever "S" word you may feel applies given the "S"ituation.

Sith,

The soy was one of my concerns since my son has eczema so I see where you concern should be true! I have heard great things about Dr. Bronners also! What is his website? I will probally try the Miessence for there facial products and makeup but I don't think I can afford more than that. Im going to try the coconut oil for a moisturizer and I love your idea for using Aloe Vera as a shaving gel. Is there a brand that you can recomend with the shaving gel?

I think Aubrey Organics was a good step up from what I was using in the past but im ready to go even more natural! Back to the basics! We ladies like to smell nice and feel soft so it's important that we find ways to do that naturally!

Try some Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) topically on his eczema. Should clear it up after a couple of weeks.

Here is Dr. Bronner's website.

I use Lily of the Desert Organic Aloe Vera Gel. It's the best that my local health food store has to offer, so it's entirely possible that there are better brands available. It's not intended for shaving, that's just one of the ways I've chosen to use it. I also mix it in my smoothies. Ideally, I'd love to start growing my own Aloe Vera plants and start getting it right from the source.

Aubrey is DEFINITELY an improvement over most commercial brands, but I'm a bit of a purist, so I strive to find those products that are closest to what Nature intended.

You can create your own "perfumes" using organic essential oils. In fact, an Esthetician friend of mine makes her own exfoliating scrubs with organic olive oil, organic sugar, and organic essential oils (lavender, chamomile, etc.). Good stuff!

Sith,

I just went and looked at his products! Wow, they do look pure! What soap and lotion would you recommend for my son? I was thinking maybe the sensitive bar soap and am not sure about the lotion! For me, I think I will try his soap and lotions and use the Miessence for my face and makeup! I would use everything Miessence if I could!LOL!

I have an aloe vera plant in my house and want to start growing more, so I will try that as a shaving gel. What a great idea and you can't get more natural than that. I want to use the coconut oil as a moisturizer but it is very oily and messy so I may only be able to use that at night! BTW, does your friend have a website, etc where I can see her products? One more question, Have you heard of the brand of skin care line called Super Salve and what do you rate there products. I've just ordered that book called (The Chemical Maze) and am eager to start learning!

Michelle,

Oh, and I was thinking it was pretty pure! Yeah, I really do need to get my book soon...it should be in the mail soon, hopefully by next week. So grapefruit seed is toxic or is it just the chemically altered version? So, it should be organic grapefruit seed extract to be a good product right? Aubrey Organics also uses GSE as a perservative in there products as well.
