Community Cures.com

Dear all,
This is a message from a person who has been diagnosed with this unpredictable but progressive brain disease, which in addition has no proven reasons and ultimately no cure at all.
How enjoyable life can be and where have your dreams gone...
I would like to share with anyone who is interested, what my reaction to these circumstances is and what incredible transformations I am implementing in my daily routine in an attempt to have a life as enjoyable as it would have been without the MS, or even more amazing as MS made me see things differently, mostly after reading the 'Natural Cures...' book which my best friend brought to me from the other part of the world.
I would love to see what you think and how you, or people who you care about, are dealing with this issue.
Ultimately, I need more help than I can create for myself despite all the reading, so I would very much appreciate your comments and advice.

Dessi, welcome to the NC Community. I'm so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Don't be discouraged, and especially don't buy into the conventional folderol that MS is untreatable or incurable, neither of which is the case. Regarding your nutritional lifestyle, do you drink diet sodas or eat "diet", "low-calorie", "low-fat", "sugar-free" or "reduced calorie", etc. foods? Do you have amalgam fillings in your teeth? Aspartame is a Neurotoxin, as is MSG. In fact, hydrolyzation of any kind creates excitotoxic byproducts. Dr. Russell Blaylock has some great books on the topic of Neurotoxins and their link to conditions such as MS. I'd highly recommend you take a look at his literature. You can beat this, so don't give up hope!

Thank you for your warm welcome and encouragement, also thank you for the specific information!
After reading Kevin's book I am very far from giving up, even on the contrary. I still find it unbelievable how medical professionals practically ruin people's lives. If I follow my neurologist's opinion, I would be injecting myself like a drug addict until the end of my life, which would have probably been not long after the notorious diagnosis with a wheelchair waiting at the end.
My view is totally different now. I stopped the medication (which brought a conflict with the neurological department and my appointment with my neurologist for this summer was cancelled with no explanation and no alternative date?!). I changed the things I consume dramatically to an almost vegetarian diet that consists of mostly raw fruit and vegetables (predominantly organic despite the cost), honey, nuts and a lot of water. No coffee, fizzy drinks, diary products, fried food, canned food (apart from organic tomatoes for cooking), no white flower, no refined oils, sugar and definitely no sweeteners... It actually is a long list of changes since last autumn which has made a big, excellent difference in the way I feel generally.
In addition to this, last month I had an extensive holistic dental treatment which removed all amalgam and other metal dental work (the mercury level in my mouth was measured at 55, considering that the maximum allowed level in the UK is 25).
I also have spiritual music and a couple of aromatherapy candles, I purposely think positively and try to keep calm and try also not to stress(which is definitely the biggest issue). I have also involved God in everything that I do.
And I cannot think of what else can be done at the moment.
Unfortunately, after the dental treatment, the dramatic changes which I expected did not happen. I am still on the detoxification programme which started a month before the dental work and which continues for another month afterwards, ensuring that the toxic metals don't affect the body excessively as a result of the removal.
It feels like I have an awful lot more to do.
I would just love to speak with people who know about natural cures and MS specifically.
It is midnight here now and I still haven't gone to sleep, which is yet another of the allegedly MS problems.
I would love to continue the discussion tomorrow.
Good night!

Dear Michelle, thank you for your support!
It is very sad to hear stories of people who are close to you, which do not have the happy end which we all desire.
It looks like your sister-in-law and your friends have tried many alternative therapies. There probably exist even more options but maybe the second level of the MS issue is more powerful in those situations.
What I know for sure about myself and MS - the nasty thing has more of a psychological than a physical nature. It hits hard mostly when I am sad, stressed or angry. And it also affects my mood and feelings massively.
Having noticed this clear pattern I have made my decision to look after my emotional state just as I do all the things with my diet, for example. Only that it appears to be harder and I have a long way to go.
And I believe. Without this all efforts and treatments will be lost.
After seeing the word 'probiotics' both in the message from Sith and now you, I will most definitely look into their meaning and where to buy them from.
I've just had an idea, there is something which your family/friends may be interested in. My best friend who is doing an incredible job trying to help me, has found information about another alternative method of healing. I only saw a short video presentation but will definitely try to get more details and I will let you know. I remember this man, aged around maybe 50, who was wheelchair-bound and with serious MS, who then was jumping around like a young man!
Most of all, Michelle, thank you for the Prayer!
Best regards

Dessi, have a pleasant night's sleep.

It sounds as if you are definitely making a lot of the correct choices. Congrats on having the amalgams removed. Was that procedure covered by your Gov't sponsored healthcare program (just curious)?

What kind of water are you drinking? Tap? Bottled (if so, what brand(s))? Filtered? Purified? How much water do you drink on a daily basis?

What kind of nuts are you eating, and in what quantities? Avoid peanuts (they're not really nuts anyway). Even "good" nuts like almonds should only be consumed sparingly.

Do you eat fish?

Do you take any kind of probiotic supplement?

Do you take any kind of vitamin/mineral supplement?

Is the honey raw & organic?

Make sure that your aromatherapy candles are made out of essential oils, and not paraffin. Also make sure that the candle wicks do not contain mercury.

What specific kind of detox regimen are you following?

Pleasant Dreams!

Dear SithSlayer, let me tell you a joke related to my dental treatment, I'm sure that you'll like it.
The full story is long but in brief here is what happened: I found a holistic dentistry (with great difficulties) and organised emergency treatment.
Then I called the local health services, the MS Society on regional and national level, my GP and NHS Direct(the national health service). My reasons for the dental treatment which I based on the link of metals and the functioning of the brain were unheard of. I felt like I was lecturing the medical professionals, only that they did not appreciate it and did not take me seriously.
Much to my surprise, the MS Society left me a long voicemail, stating that 'no scientific evidence has been found...' in proof of my claims, hence they would not support me financially.
My GP had never heard such a request.
Amazingly, a letter was sent to me from the NHS, suggesting that 'in exceptional circumstances and providing that it is backed by my GP', my request for funding of this treatment outside the standard practice, may be considered.
I had my regular appointment with the MS nurse today and I told her that yesterday I spoke with my GP with regards to providing a letter in support of my request to the NHS. The lady actually interrupted me saying that she hoped this was not about the amalgam. Her tone and facial expression made it clear that she not only totally disapproved of my decision to stop the injectable medication, but that she also disrespected my personal judgement and generally did not care about me as her patient to the slightest extend.
"No one has asked us", the nurse said, "but if they do, we don't support this".
In addition she said that my bladder (lack of) control can be treated with medication, but would I want such an expensive bladder scan to be done, if I was not going to take the medication? Of course, I did not want it.
And I find this funny. Not because due to MS my brain is twisted, but because it is hilarious to watch real life horror stories about the extend of ignorance, selfishness and narrow-mindedness in a system which has the sole purpose of helping people's wellbeing.
And when I stop laughing I may start writing as this behaviour is wrong and unforgivable.

Now answers to your questions:
- I bought myself a filter water kettle and I even cook using this water. There is a filter at work too. I purposely dring water, around 2 litres per day and I almost never buy any bottled drinks apart from mineral water.
- After the dental treatment I cannot chew nuts, but before this since last autumn I ate a lot of cashews, almonds and walnuts mostly - all raw and mostly organic. I like nuts with honey. Looking at the natural diet, there are not many things to consume and I believe that nuts are at least edible. Almost no peanuts in the last years, I used to eat a lot of them because we grew peanuts at home back in the years
- Fish is something I have just introduced to my diet. My mum never used to cook fish so I have no habit developped. Now I eat organic salmon (because this is the only organic fish I can get here) about twice a month (purely because it is extremely expensive)
- I am not sure what 'probiotic supplement' is
- the holistic dental treatment includes a couple of months of detoxification (one as a preparation to the treatment and another one afterwards, also 4 intravenous infusions of Vitamin C and some other elements to help the body cope with the metal toxicity and healing of the gums).
Before June I didn't take anything regularly. I had a few sachets of coral calcium but unfortunately I finished those. Now I eat organic cider vinegar and organic coconut oil.
A product was recomended to me: 'progurt' which is supposed to be great for people with MS, but I have not bought it yet.
- Always organic honey, I even take some from Bulgaria and ask for it to be from bees which have not been fed with sugar (because it is a common practice for people to pour water with diluted sugar near bee hives to increase the amount of honey).
A curious fact here: last week I bought this organic honey from New Zealand and it has such an unpleasant smell! I got a different type and the same smell was there. So I decided not to eat honey from New Zealand any more!
- My aromatic candles are not even lit, they smell lovely as they are and they come together with some gentle, soothing music. Check the range out here: feelgood aroma collection -

- Here is more about the detox: Hall V-Tox Therapy, under the supervision of Drs Munro Hall:
http://www.hallvtox.dircon.co.uk/
* 1 Teaspoon (5mg) morning and evening with Water, Apple Juice and fresh Lemon Juice There were 3 separate combinations, here is a list of the components of 1 of them:
Magnesium Ascorbate, Ascorbic Acid, FOS
Potassium Citrate, Cysteine
Zincarginate, -aspartate, -citrate, -piccolinate
Calcium-AEP
Magnesium-AEP, -arginate, -aspartate, -citrate
L-Glutathione Complex, Selenium
* 7 pills: Vitamin B-Complex, Soya Lecitin, Vitamin E, Q10, Flax Seed Oil, Beta Carotene, Evening Primrose Oil)

Very chemical indeed. I olso take fish oil with this lot. I did Ph tests for a week, then for 2 weeks and now again. Unfortunately, the results are jumping up and down the chart so obviously I have a lot more work to do on my balancing.

I look forward to your comments.
I would also appreciate any advice on literature I could refer to in order to educate myself more about issues important to health.

Kind regards!

Dear Kerry,
Thank you for sharing so useful information and your comment about my amalgam-removal-miracle impatience put a big smile on my face!
It is still here. :)
I made a note of the title of the water book, I am very curious about what it would teach me. I definitely need more information about what is most appropriate in terms of amount of water to be consumed, as well as the time to do it, and more.
Unfortunately, after increasing the amount of water which I drink, my pins&needles sensations have not disappeared. Together with the diet the increased water consumption has regulated my bowel functioning 100%, but the bladder issue is worse than ever.
Obviously there is a separate field for research.
Can you self-teach yourself to practice yoga? I must seriously consider this because for months now my favourite aerobics type of exercise appears to make me too tired too quickly. I have the feeling that my batteries have run out of power after a few minutes of jumping, then I slow down and eventually have to stop altogether.
This made me cry when it first started happening in my fitness club last year. Then I stopped my membership and began to practice with a dance aerobics DVD at home, applying all the patience in the world and trying to laugh at myself when I need to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes, or when I need to lay down because my legs are upset with me because of the extensive movement.
Too much detail here, I am sorry if this sounds disturbing. I hope that people who are familiar with MS would not get upset. I just wanted to check if you perhaps have experienced similar situations.
By the way, I have made a decision to train to become a personal fitness trainer myself! I have no idea yet where I will get the money from, but sooner or later this will happen.
I am sorry to hear about your grandfather. There obviously is a genetic predisposition to MS in you. I believe that the good news now is that there is so much more information about the condition and indeed, this is a 'condition'. We have to work on it and not let it take control.
In fact, so far I've seen so many stories about people with MS who have got cured in a sense.
If there is a way, then we have to find it.
I will keep you updated for any new discoveries.
Best regards

Dessi, I went through my own personal library this morning, and I only have 1 book on MS. The title is Reversing Multiple Sclerosis: 9 Effective Steps to Recover Your Health. The author is Dr. Celeste Pepe. The book chronicles Dr. Pepe's journey from when she was first "diagnosed" with MS, through her discoveries via Alternative Methodologies, and ultimately to her recovery. Several protocols that she references include Chelation, Ozone Therapy, Vitamin, Mineral and Supplement Therapies, and Bee Venom Treatments. Of course, most if not all of these "alternative" protocols are considered too controversial by mainstream conventional Medicine. I'd definitely recommend this book.

Specifically regarding the use of Bee Venom Therapy in relation to MS, you can see one man's journey here at the Bee Venom Therapy Journal. There are also other BVT links and resources on his website.

Hi, Sith! I will look for this book for sure. This would be the first complete story of curing MS.
Incredible, I now have so much information and all gathered in 24 hours!
Fantastic!

Dissa, I found another book on my shelf last night, although I haven't actually read it yet. The title is Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy & ALS, by Drs. Donsbach & Alsleben. It is a pretty thin book, with only about 85-90 pages, and only cost $5.00 (probably why I picked it up in the first place). Interestingly enough this book actually references Snake Venom Therapy, which until this morning, I'd never even heard of.

You indicated that you were drinking 2 liters of water per day. That's a good start, but for someone in your condition, I'd recommend at least doubling that to 4 liters (1 gallon) per day. It won't be as convenient obviously, since you'll be making more frequent trips to the bathroom throughout the day, but well worth it in the end. A great little book on the subject of water, as well as different types of water treatment systems is Water: The Ultimate Cure by Steve Meyerowitz. The book also has a great Introduction by noted Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, who also has several great books on the subject.

More info can be found at WaterCure.com.

I'd recommend Yoga as well. Just pick up a DVD and do it at home if going to a studio isn't practical.

Regarding probiotics, you should DEFINITELY find a high-quality, organic supplement containing as many live cultures of as many strains as possible.

Most of us know that "antibiotics" are drugs used to kill bacteria. Well, probiotics are exactly the opposite. Their purpose is to promote the growth of friendly bacteria in the body.

Probiotics are also known as intestinal flora, microflora, or gut flora.

All species require these gastrointestinal bacteria in order to ward off pathogenic (bad) bacteria. Things such as Antibiotics, Chlorinated water, and processed foods all serve to destroy our beneficial intestinal bacteria. This in turn leads to the "BAD" bacteria running rampant and eventually taking over (Chronic Candidiasis - Yeast Syndrome).

A book that I'd recommend on this subject is A Consumer's Guide to Probiotics: How Nature's Friendly Bacteria Can Restore Your Body to Super Health by Dr. S.K. Dash.

Hi, Sith!

I was sitting down to ask you a question when actually your last message gives me a detailed answer one step in advance.

I wanted to seek your advice about what books to read because I feel severe lack of information and thank you very much for your recommendation.

In fact, midway through your explanation I went to drink 2 glasses of water.
I've gone such a long way with my water intake, from almost nothing per day now going towards 4 litres every day as I will most definitely follow your advice regardless of the bathroom inconvenience. I seem to make those trips more often than anyone else I know so now at leat I will have the best reason.

Also, I will try to get both The Ultimate Cure by Steve Meyerowitz, and Water: For Health, for Healing, for Life: You're Not Sick, You're Thirsty! by Dr. F. Batmanghelidj, which Kerry kindly recommended earlier.

I set this now as a high priority: I will obtain a yoga DVD by the end of next week! You believe that it would be beneficial, Kerry shared that it is very important for her MS, I will be a part of your group soon too.

I feel enlightened now abouth the crucial role of probiotics. I had briefly heard of them, they must be mentioned in Kevin's book, also I had something which my dentists called 'gut bacteria' for a while, which matches your description.
Michelle noted that it is a must to start taking probiotics as well, she also offered information of a sourse for high quality probiotics, you may have seen the link here above.

This is definitely another Top Priority aim for next week. I will try to check the library resources for all these books but I have the feeling that like all the other miraculous new things, it will have to be on-line order. I hope I can obtain everything I need in the UK.

One step at a time.

Hey Desi just checked out the site, and saw your post.

I was diagnosed with MS 1 year ago but has been going on for about 3 years before. I am and have been an ovalactin vegetarian for 12-14 years. Never touch diet anything and not a filling in my mouth.

I spent 3 years dodging conventional treatments and got progressivly worse. I went on Avonex a once a week IM injection that leaves you fealing like crap the next day after a year on Avonex I have switched to Betaseron an every other day SubCue Interferon, it also leaves you fealing like crap pretty much constantly. I am looking for any answers that work and so far I have found none. The sad part is all the great advice as far as diet etc. are things I have done my whole life anyway. So I can't really change any of that for the better. I have cut back on regular sodas to 1 a day tops and have replaced it with much water and have seen no changes. I was taking Prednisone for relapses but it was not fully dealing with them so now I am taking an IV drip of methyl-predinsone which is about 10 times as strong as the regular prednisone I was on. So far this is my second day on it and it has been very effective but it is a heavy duty steroid and I worry about the long term effects for short term gain. I am not sure I am on several boards about MS and most of the stuff I run into is like the kind of thing you have been getting here usefull but so far inefective.

I have been doing alot of research though and here are a couple things that are at least good to know if not nesicarily helpful.

1) MS is your immune system attacking the mylenin on your nerve cells treatment for this is largely immune modification to keep this from happening but is only about 50% effective
2) Your immune system should not be able to reach the mylenin due to the blood brain barrier so there is theory that MS is actualy caused not because there is something wrong with your immune system (somthing like 70% of autopsies show MS like leisions. even in people without MS) So the theory is that people with MS have problems maintaining the blood brain barrier. On this one I was looking and I forget the name of the chemical but it is found in blue fruits so you might want to look into that some. Not sure about how effective it will be but it is something that I have been trying I will let you know how it goes.

Dear Marilyn,
Thank you for the iodine therapy idea which is new to me.
I read a lot from the websites which you recommended and in addition to the iodine information, for the first time I saw a proven link between betaferons (for MS patients) and development of other diseases as a result.
I wish I never poisoned myself for a year with those drugs but it seemed to be the best thing at the time.
I will certainly investigate the possible benefits of iodine therapy on my condition.
Best regards
