what were humans actually meant to eat? this is a question i have been asking myself for years now. and since reading kevins first book, (will be reading the second one soon) he has inspired me to search for answers about what humans were really intended to eat. it would seem logical that fruits and veggies were absolutely intended to be eaten by us. as for meat, i really dont know if we are supposed to eat it. after all there were no stoves or ovens or microwaves in the garden of eden lol! if anyone would like to express an opinion on this topic, i would love to hear from you.

I agree with you. Fruit Grains and Nuts. That was the Bible diet Meat wasn't allowed until after the flood.
I have often wondered where the Vegetables came in and Maybe they were classified with Fruits,
I grew up Vegetarian and did very well. Our family was not often sick and enjoyed an active healthy life.

I believe humans were meant to eat grass-fed, non-hormone or antibiotic injected red meats and poultry, pastured eggs, raw milk, low mercury fish with scales, organic (unsprayed) fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds. (It's a shame I have to be so specific because our food supply is so corrupted.) I don't believe we were meant to eat pork, refined grains and sugars, nor processed, artificial foods, lab chemicals or trans fats. The more I study nutrition, particularly about vitamins and minerals, the more it makes sense. These foods have the essential nutrients for life and are beneficial in their pure forms. For example, meat, especially red meat, contains every essential amino acid and high quality useable iron along with the best source of B12. If it did not contain essential nutrients to life then I would avoid it. The problems come in when the animals are injected with hormones or antibiotics and fed mold-infested grains, when industry pollutes the water with mercury, when chemicals are sprayed on our food to be ingested by us, and when food is processed beyond recognition. From all I've studied so far Vegetarianism is not as healthy as many would have you believe. The difference, I think, is that Vegetarians eat more of the fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds meat-eaters should be including as well. They do run the risk of vitamin B12 deficiency as proven by latest research. Yes, they can take a supplement but it tells me something is missing. Just my opinions though :)

It doesn't say ONLY anywhere! I believe He also created certain animals as food for us as well. The whole chapter 11 of Leviticus speaks of food.

Leviticus 11:3 (NIV): You may eat any animal that has a split hoof completely divided and that chews the cud.

Leviticus 11:9 (NIV): Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams, you may eat any that have fins and scales.

Everyone's body functions a bit differently though and some people thrive on mostly veggies and fruit (carbs) and some on more protein. I think everyone has to find out what balance works best for them.

I certainly believe that we would all be better off to live on raw foods. As far as meat goes,l first ask that you study the primitive, isolated Eskimo.Plant life is virtually nonexistent in the far north. The Eskimo has had to adapt to what was available. The Eskimo survived almost exclusively on raw meat and maintained great health.

I am not suggesting that you live on meat.Perhaps the temperatures in the far north prevent some of the harmful bacteria that are common to us?I ask that you examine the "Eskimo Diet" and give your opinions.I suggest that you look for a book titled "Enzyme Nutrition" by Dr.Edward Howell

naturenut - I'm a vegetarian for personal reasons (I love animals...) and while I think that we were not meant to eat meat originally, I think man's phisiology changed after Adam and Eve/Chava sinned. After all, some animals eat meat now and no animals ate meat THEN. So yeah, now I think we are meant to eat meat. I just don't because I can't stand the suffering involved.

How do we know for sure that animals did not eat meat or that Adam and Eve did not eat meat before the flood??? (I am really not interested in getting into another debate on whether or not we're supposed to eat meat, everyone decide for themselves.) I'm just questioning some "facts". Do we really know that God did not teach Adam and Eve how to hunt, how to start a fire, how to raise livestock for food along with gardening.........?

there was no death. after the fall, animals had to be killed to cloth Adam and Eve/Chava. Animals had to be killed to be eaten because the earth would no longer just yield all the fruits it did before. that's where all those scriptures cited here come in... those applied before the fall, when the soil provided all the nourishment needed.

"Well, let's look at the text book [bible] and see what it has to say: Genesis 3:21- "....God proceeded to make long garments of skin for Adam and for his wife and to clothe them." I don't know whether it is plant skin or animal skin but there is another scripture in chapter 4 that shows they did kill animals because if you read Gen 4:4, Abel brought 'firstlings of his flock' meaning he sacrificed a sheep as an offering to Him. It doesn''t say anything about them eating the animals, though."

ummmm that was after the fall, after eve bit the apple. My point is while Adam and Eve were perfect and innocent, they were vegans, and they were supposed to live forever that way. I conclude from that that we were ORIGINALLY not supposed to eat meat, but things have changed since.
