Aside from the pricey vita mix, and ktech blenders, has anyone tried something else for making green smoothies and had good results?

I have made them in a regular cheap blender. It does take a while for it to get the stuff to chop. Next time I think I will start blending the banana and water before adding stuff in slowly.
They worked out fine eventually though.

I use a regular blender too...usually ground hand full total of a soft nut (like pecans) and seeds then add the juice/water, banana, other piece of fruit then the greens on top. Haven't had any trouble if I add the ingredients in this order.

I have a Black&Decker blender. I got it from Big Lots...I think it was between $20 - $30.
