I got a bottle of Monavie from my stepdaughter yesterday. I read the ingredients and it states : " Natural Flavors"
Hmmmm, isnt that another code word for MSG? Very curious
Also, it tasted good. I used to take Fusion 4 by Genesis and it was disgusting. So that fact that Monavie tastes good conerns me about any sweetners?
Hi, Karen, I'm a little late on posting this but, this was an interesting study. I learned a lot! First I looked up resveratrol since this is the main claim to fame of VIVIX. Resveratrol is one anti-oxidant, a polyphenol type of anti-oxidant. An important one. I found resveratrol as an anti-oxidant found on someone’s opinion of a “top ten anti-oxidants” list. (*See list below.) "Rejuvatrol" is the Shaklee company's blend of the following ingredients with a high concentration of resveratrol:
VIVIX seems to be all about resveratrol, and resveratrol is a good thing. Without taking anything away from the benefits of this anti-oxidant, it's ONE anti-oxidant. There might be other anti-oxidants in these 4 ingredients, but the all-encompassing stated benefit of the product seems to be geared towards resveratrol. Here are FOUR other fruits which contain resveratrol and ALL are found in MonaVie’s blend of 19 fruits: Purple grape, Blue berry, Billberry, Açai
The following are a list of other anti-oxidants, equally important, and the first 9 are the others listed in what someone considered the top ten:
I won't list everything each of these do, but they range from causing cancer cells to implode to increasing the body's production of energy at the cellular level, to protecting the body to boosting the body's ability to handle UV radiation.
And guess what? The wild acai berry has been called a "freak of nature" because it contains ALL of these anti-oxidants listed 1-10 plus the others and this is only "some" of them it contains. Acai also contains every essential and non-essential amino acid needed for protein synthesis. For a berry to contain all three omega oils (3,6, and 9) is unheard of. This wild acai berry from the Amazon rain forest is the food to date with the HIGHEST ORAC score (the measure of anti-oxidant power, tested by the USDA) of any other food in the world, and contains the MOST anti-oxidant *variety* of any food tested. Variety is what you want to stay healthy because eating a variety of high anti-oxidant foods is the best defense against disease and aging.
Thank you, Capri59, excellent info on MSG, nothing of which applies to MonaVie, since MonaVie has none of anything listed on the chart, but good info to know how bad stuff secretly gets into our processed foods!
Yes, it does not appear that MonaVie has any MSG. Even if it had a little, it may not have a major impact as the health effects may neutralize it. It seems a wonderful product but I am yet to try it. What was on the list is what we must fight against all the time. Have a wonderful weekend.
