Input and brainstorming wanted on an hCG based weight loss clinic chain

Hi everybody,
Okay here is the deal. As many of you know Me and my family are having phenominal results on the hCG. I have made a decision, and I am VERY serious, about opening up a weight loss clinic and expanding into a national chain. I have discussed this with my husband, and he is very supportive. I am a nurse, so that will help. My Doctor is extremely enthusiastic about my success and might be willing to be my back up Doctor who will prescribe the hCG to my clients. I do not have any money, but my house is up for sale, and I will be pulling out a substantial amt of equity that I could use for start up money (I would be willing to just move to an apartment) or I could keep my house and use it for collateral to get a loan. My husband and I have owned/operated 2 businesses (skating rink and clothing store) previously so I know the ins and outs of owning a business. I realize that I will have to deal with Doctors and the FDA, and others who profit from fat and sick people, but I do not care. BRING IT ON! I am ready. I thought about leasing a building that is set up for clinical use. I want to sub-let space to other practicioners suc as a chiropracter, massage therapist, herbalist, chelation expert, colonics expert, etc. I could divide the total rent/utilities accordingly and save a lot of money on my overhead cost. I could become a distributer of hard to find organic supplements, beauty products, and all the other products/teas that KT suggests. Since a lot of people will be vising my clinic who will not be there to lose weight but who are there to see one of my tenant practicioners I will have a juice bar in the very tranquil the waiting and the clients would be free to browse through my store (also in the waiting area or just off the waiting area) while they are waiting. And I could offer pure water and lemon to my phase 2 clients. I could carry all the cleanses and all the KT recommended books. When a potental client calls in the receptionist will get their name and address and send them a brochure explaing everything. Next they call the clinic and see me. I will do weigh, measurements, before/after pictures, collect baseline lipid levels, take vital signs and provide them with 2 months of cleanses. At the end of 2 months they will see my back up Doctor who will prescribe the hCG and self injections and I will provide the with 1 weeks worth of injections already drawn up for them. Once a week the will come in for a weekly weigh in and pick up 7 more injections. Of course, I need to make some sort of profit but I want to be very fair and make the service as affordable as I can for people. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should charge, what I should call my clinic, any other ideas. Any and all input would be soooo appreciated.

Sincerely,
~Rhonda~

Hi Rhonda!
Congratulations!! I love free enterprise!! I love being a capitalist! For some strange reason, folks have somehow, through the media, conjured a bad image of capitalism. What they don't realize is that if they own a car, a home, etc., that makes them a capitalist. If you own private property, that makes one a capitalist. And capitalism is what helps to make this country great.
I think your idea is great. Fantastic!! I just would not jeopardize my home to come up with collateral. I would get a small business loan and I would form an LLC, that way, no matter what happens, it would make it harder for anyone to come after your personal assets if the business fails. There again, this is where the advice of an attorney is worth it's weight in gold.
Make sure you come up with a financial review, cost vs. profit, and if it is a go ahead, have an attorney go over your contract(s). Especially the doctor you will be going into business with. Tie every loose end. This contract not only protects the other person, but you as well. And it shows everyone what is expected of them in their performance toward the business.
I too plan on discussing this same business venture with my cousin who already owns an alternative health care shop. I will be speaking with her in the next week or so; I have already broached the idea with her, and she said it was certainly worth thinking about.
I'll let you know how I fare.
My gut instincts are to start small, such as thoroughly going over the protocol with the patient, explaining the importance of the cleanses and other "to do's" in phase one, ordering the blood tests, giving the patient the injections to take home, etc. Thoroughly reviewing each and every phase and their importance in the success of their weight loss. Just a one shot deal, for one price. Don't know about malpractice insurance and liability, so can't even offer a tid bit of advice on that one. But something definitely to be discussed with the doctor and your attorney.
I believe you stated you lived in Texas? I believe your business opportunity and growth potential in Texas has way more growth value than Kentucky.
At any rate, maybe we can help each other with suggestions and feedback. Let me know what you think.

Hi Terrie,

I found a beautiful location that I am interested in just a few miles from my home. My two concerns are parking (does not look like much parking) and whether or not the landlord will allow me to sublet. My husband reminded me that when we opened our clothing store we had to have impact studies done that the city does to determine if you have adequate parking for the likely clientale number. I plan on calling the number on the lease sign tomorrow. It is a fairly brand new brick building. I peered through the window of it and the businesses on each side. It appears that the build to suit. It looks hollow inside. One one side there is a tutoring center and on the other is a Podiatrist. Excellent drive by traffic on a busy street near a day spa. What do you think? Is it reasonable to split the cost of the 1st, last, and deposit among all my practicioners. Also we could split the utilities and the cost to hire a receptionist to be shared by all of us. Do you think that would work? I wonder if KT would help sponsor me. After all he mentioned in one of his books that he was planning to transfer most of his fianancial assets to charities or worthy causes. What do you think? What about a grant? I wonder if I could get a grant writer willing to loan me services until I make enough money to pay him or her back. I will be doing this on a very tight budget, so I need to utilize all my resources. I was think about calling the clinc Natural Solutions. That way it will apply to all the other practicioners as well. What do you think. I have to get a Dunn & Bradstreet number, set up a business account, become a member of Chamber of Commerce and BBB. I am trying to think back to 1994 when we opened up the store. The skating rink was a lot less involved because it was pre-existing, but the store we moved into a build to suit building the same way. Jog my memory, what else? I know there was so much more. Oh yes, a computer system for the receptonist to track appointments or would it be easier if she used separate appointment books.

Hi Rhonda,
I'm working on some additional thoughts and answers for you. I am brainstorming; I hope I don't founder myself, ha ha.
I will get back with you and hopefully I will have something more concrete to offer in the way of suggestions.
As far as KT goes, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, well, he probably has offers all the time; "but can't never did", so go for it. It can't hurt to ask!
I don't know how far a grant request would go for a weight loss clinic using HCG would go; it cannot really be prescribed for weight loss, but there is a discrepancy, some slight change, that allows the doctors to be able to prescribe it and for the life of me, I've read what that was, and now I can't recall it. And now I can't even remember where I read it; but will try hard to think and remember.
Anyway, you have posed some good questions.
Let me think on it and get back with you.

Hi Rhonda,

Great idea! There is a website that offers hcg therapy and has a program to help people who want to set up their own program, it's www.ghihrt.com, click on resellers. This may not be exactly what you had in mind, but they might be able to answer some of the questions that you have. Hope this helps...

if you used ghi medical you already know what they charge. if not call them and then try to undercut their price enough to keep your local patients using you. they are way cheap on their lab tests, you might find out about bulk/big order contracts with labcorp. i think ghi only charge $30 for the dr. to look at your lab and write order/rx for hcg. not unreasonable...around here it $85+ to see a dr....if you can find one accepting patients.
"changes" might be a snappy name for a clinic
good luck and keep us posted

I was thinking of trying to get a buisiness of the same sort started where I live as well, kind of an all in one place you are thinking but I was also thinking of a gym as well, kind of a all natural fitness center with on site practiciners and such, I already know of a message therapist I'm pretty certian would be willing to go there, just a lot of little hirdles to jump through, While i'm in the medical field sadly, I'm not a nurse so might be a little tougher to get going or get a doctor on board, shrug. Wish you the best!

I am so grateful for all the input. Nancy,I checked out that link you sent me, and I am pretty sure it would be a franchise deal. I prefer to have total control, and with a franchise I would not have the control I desire. I want my business to be operated a very precise way. It is for this reason that I do not want to become a partner with a Doctor. I would simply refer my clients to the Doctor who would give me oders to supply my clents with hCG, draw blood, etc. This would all be a standing protocol that The Doctor and I both agree to. All the Doctor would do is give me the yay or nay if the client is a suitable candidate. Everything else would be up to me. I could sublet space to a massage therapist, Homeopath, chiropracter, colonics specialist, aroma therapist, reflexologist, herbalist. chelation expert, thought field therapist, accupuncturist, Ayurveda specialist. Which ever name I choose I want it to apply to all of us under that roof. The only thing is that I want the weight loss program to be the main focus and the other businesses to be sort of like extensions off the main business and we could all support and send referrals to each other. Perhaps we could even trade services with one another.

Mike and Terrie that is so awesome that you want to also open a clinic. We could all work together on brainstorming and such. Nobody would be stepping on anyones toes since we are all in different locales. I like being my own boss, but I worked my fingers to the bone when I had my own business. Harder than I ever worked at any other job, but then again a little hard work never scared me. It keeps me out of trouble and that is a good thing, believe me!

As far as my pricing. I will be offering SO MUCH MORE than GHI with a lot more overhead in relation to clientale I am sure. My clients will have the ultimate in support, ultimate in convenience, absolutely no hassel, and they will be under a Doctor's care. I would even like to conduct seminars to educate the public. I could show them before and after pictures starting with me and my family. I would like to conduct support groups and invite a few skeptics at a time to join us (especially Doctors). I want my waiting area to be extremely tranquil and serene with dim lighting and relaxing music.

I was inable to get info on that building today. The owner is out of town until Monday. I really, really have my heart set on that particular building. I hope no one else leases it before I am ready. I wish money were not one of my obstacles. Kevim Trudeau PLEASE HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP. I NEED YOU. If you are reading this get in touch with me ASAP. If anyone is able to influence KT Please do it.

I laugh at myself sometimes. Like that is really going to happen. Oh well I can deam.

Peace,
~Rhonda~

Rhonda, that is an awesome idea to open a clinic and offering this to the public! I was just at a spa where they offer laser treatment, massages,etc..I know the owner since she started her business and is doing quite well. I told her about KT's books and the Simeons protocol (which I am starting very soon!) She has a doctor friend and the 2 of them want to add the diet and nutition as another service to offer. Thanks for reminding me. I was supposed to give her a copy of Dr. Sim. manuscript. Curious to know if the FDA ever bothers these hcg doctors and their clinics. Her waiting area is exactly how you describe your vision. I agree IM instead of SQ. Also, I'll come work for you!! (:

Hi Rhonda-

That is great idea. I went to a clinic much like that they didnt offer the hcg or at least I didnt know of it. You can maybe call the owners/Dr. of the clinic and get some ideas from them. They offer IV therapy, massage, chiro, detox, and many other services. I was taking chelation, for a liver disease. It was a miracle worker cured me of drug induced lupus. THe name of the clinic is Alternative Medicine Associates its in Madison, AL. Hope all works out well for you!

Hum, I am worried about the FDA, Look at what they've done to K T. I worry that HCG will even be around much longer. It is not approved for weight loss, so how do you get around that? They will shut you down for perscribing off label. Perhaps start up the clinic do everything like you said but direct your clients to an out of the country source and let them put their name on the order form.

Rhonda, the alternative spa here is called "New Images." FYI - Hcg Medical charges $510 TOTAL for providing the following: H & P (done online), outsourcing the labwork to my locality, an MD to review the labwork (they said he gets $175 of it) I pay for the hcg at my local pharmacy. (they said it would be $68)I am not sure if that includes the syringes and Bac. water.
