Does anyone have any experience with the Debt Cure? I am getting some phone calls by some people who want to enroll me in their debt elimination program and I'm a little suspicious. I think it might be a racket. They want to charge $4,350.00 for their service which takes 18 months. Does this hurt your credit rating? Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

I wouldn't trust anyone askig for a fee.......... There are places that will help you for free that are non profit organizations. Make sure you check with the better business bureau before making a committment with any company. Some companies can make your credit really bad.
Dont enroll in ANY debt solutions "non profit" program! I did it once. It is NOt really non profit!!! Its a rip off really. You can do more on your own!! Its all about being BOSS! You tell them how its gonna be, or they get NOTHING! I think theyll take what they can get u know... I did some things with a book called "credit secrets Bible" . Very helpful! But a bit outdated, so I am looking forward to getting the KT debtcures book!
yeah, i want to get the book too! I'm not letting anyone take control of my finances. but do you think it really works??
thanks for your reply, william!
yep, they say your credit will end up really stellar. somehow i don't believe them. i want to get the debt cures book and see if it's legit and if i can do it myself. plus, i think i promised to pay them back, the credit card companies, so i feel out of integrity not doing so. and i want to maintain the great credit rating i have now.
thanks for responding!
Yeah I am going to get the debt cures book too. I am not sure what kind of info Kevin has in it, but I can say from his other book that I find his methods very credible. I have tried them and they work (like the weight loss cure and other suggestions in his books) ... So what the heck. There are actually some VERY simple things you can do. Like i said before, it is key to remember that you are boss when it comes to setting the terms! You can negotiate the companies to let you pay off your debts at, say 27 cents, on the dollar. Also have them change that account that youre paying on (at 27 cents on the dollar) to a current updated account, being payed as agreed- so that instead of having any late charges on your credit, youll have that eraed and it will now be a NEW account being paid, therefor raising your credit score as a revolving credit line... Darn I hope im making sence to you. I cant explain things too well, but I try... There is the book "Credit secrets Bible" which is very short actually. To the point and simple to understand!
It has GREAT info about medical bills! I had alot of medical bills and am in the process of getting them taken care of. Actually I wrote them and told them that I have NO obligation to pay them because they are a Collection agency and through HIPAA, they cannot legally come after me because it protects my medical information from being released to any 3rd party, such as them- the collection agency. So therfoe the doctors offices were in breach of contract when they released my medical info to the 3rd party (the collection agency) and thus I have ZERO obligation to pay them, and I could sue them for releasing my info to a 3rd party! And I told them if this was a mistake and they released my private information to a 3rd party by mistake, then ill understand if the problem is corrected within 30 days. And i havent heard from them since!!!! I used to get TONS of annoying bills. But No more!!
Its called prmoof of contract. F they could provide me with a notorized copy of MY SIGNATURE saying that i authorize the release of my medical info to a 3rd party, then fine-- but they could not!! 99% of the time you will NOT have signed any paper in the ER or Dr.'s office that authorized them to give your info to the collection agency (ie: 3rd party). So THEY are the ones at fault!! Because HIPAA said so!!! THANKS YOU HIPAA!!
William - does the release of info apply for other things other than medical stuff? Such as, if you owe a phone company money and they put your bill over to a credit bureau, can you say the same thing, that the phone company was in breach of contract because they didn't have my permission to release the information? I'm thinking not, but you seem to know a lot about this and any help would be appreciated. I offered to help a friend and we're running into road blocks although I did manage to get one account settled for a thousand less than he owed. Thanks.
Harley, No I dont think it applies to anything but medical bills. Something about medical bills be PRIVATE and PERSONAL info. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, insures that none of your personal private medical info can be shared with any third party! Unkess you signed a paper that gave them permission, which in 99.9% of the cases you DID NOT. And in that case you tell them that you demand a notorized copy of that paper you signed...
Harley, Tell me what kind of bill this is-- Phone bill correct. But wireless or LAN line and what company?

Christine, if you get Fox business look up and see when Dave Ramsey comes on. I believe in his philosophy of getting out of debt.
hiring a agency like this may destory your credit for years with the tactics some of them use.
Dave teaches changing your habits to get you out of debt and keep you out of debt.
before you do anything i would highly recommend checking him out. you will be thankful. Dave also use Biblical principals. So if that offends you. you may not want to check him out
I am not familiar with the particular one you mention. It sounds expensive. I am associated with another solution that is much less but you have to learn and do some work yourself. They are having some great successes. To learn about it you can check out the web site at http://TheRockClub.org You can learn more for free by filling out a non disclosure form on the site. Please put down that "Perry" referred you. Good Luck.
