Okay..so last night I was watching the news and there was a commercial for High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) from the Corn company. It was 2 mothers at a birthday party...one asks...
Are you going serve that (koolaid)? Doesnt it have HCFS in it? YOu know what they say about HCFS.
The HFCS mother replies, No I dont know.
Other mother. stutters around...well you know..
The HFCS mother say what that it is all natural, better than sugar and comes from corn.

That was it..I was appalled....

Oh and I actually went to the website it was advertising and their only 'benefits' listed were that it prolongs shelf life, makes cookies, ect. soft and chewy, and enhances flavor.

whatever... I'm sure every illiterate health idiot will just lap it up. I can't WAIT to hear from my in-laws that high fructose corn syrup is good for you.

I was thinking the same thing..my mother in law will be all over that!! My mouth seriously dropped open..I just cant believe it. What company is advertising that??

the corn companies... *sigh* you'd think they'd give it a rest. it's not like they're not making all this money because of gas and ethanol and all...

Have you guys ever seen what they say about fluoride in the flyers which come from the Medical Centre in order to get kids to go to the dentist?

Oh great...now we need an anti corn syrup commercial too !
The most appauling commercials are the cereal commercials on Saturday mornings....using little cutesy cartoons to make your kids want to buy that cereal. And you better believe that tactic works.
I remember the lucky charms. I was enchanted by it when i was very young, and just had to have some lucky charms, thinking...its MAGICAL.lol They're magically delicious. Yea, they're magical all right. Its magical how half the people my age have type two diabetes now !

I saw it, too. It was so shocking I couldn't respond... to the tv or anyone. I just sat there asking myself... did I just see what I just saw??? What channel is this? I think I was surfing the Food Network!!! I'm sure Kevin T is going to have a field day with this one.

The only good part about ads like this is, it shows that people like KT and all of us are making an impact, their sales are dropping, and they are fighting back, err trying to, in vain, lol!

I also hate that other comercial about the mom saying how cutting her child's juice with water to cut down sugar cuts vitamin C. Give your kid a doggone apple instead! They obviosuly want to sell more juice.

The drug ads could not be more INSANE lately either. "...this drug will give you horrible gas, possible chest pain and KILL you..." but doesn't she look healthy?

AHHHHHHHH! Good post Wendi, it helps to vent, LOL!

PS: I sure hope these companies go to sites like this to see how to market. Maybe they will see what we really DO want: Pesticide-Free, Artificials Free, Refined-Sugar-Free, GMO Free and so on from honest, humane companies. AND not to be insulted by ridiculous ads like this.

All natural my ass! It's a !@#$Ing chemically altered sweetener.
If I cared enough about it i'd sue them for false advertising.

Me too, Duane, I sit in awe 99 percent of the time thinking about whether I really just saw what I just saw on TV. The one commercial that in particular galls me is the one about genital herpes. The one partner says, "I have genital herpes." And then the other partner responds, "And I still don't." Now tell me, what fool would want to knowingly become intimate with someone that had genital herpes?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish we were all rich enough to file a class action lawsuit against all the false advertising!! (Can't hurt to wish!!) It's awful and so unjust, but most judges think they are gods anyway and will make the rules up as they go.
Just imagine how Kevin Trudeau feels when he goes up against them!!
