I know exactly how you feel. Being truck drivers, makes it really hard to find safe water at a reasonable price at that. We tried to bring our own filter OTR but that did not seem to work well. I never heard of stainless steel bottles. hmm. why?
On the same general area, does anyone know where I could find travel water filters or distillers? In a truck we need small and convient. We NEED good water. thanks in advance
(Hmm.. I thought I replied to this already, and it seems to be gone now?.. oh well).
I just got a Berkey water filter about 5 months ago. I LOVE IT. It was so much better at first sip when I compared it to my refrigerator filter... I nearly spit out my 'usual'!
I have always reused a plastic sports bottle, but I figure since the water's not in there that long.. it doesn't have time to aborb the plastic. So, I make my own 'bottled water'. The cost of bottled it ridiculous anyway.

Good topic, since this is something I'm concerned about right now.
The BEST water I've ever enjoyed was Fiji artisian water. But it's pricey. A case of 12x1.5 liter bottles easily ran over $30 (and when you're drinking half your weight in ounces daily, you soon find that you're really starting to pay out your teeth!).
I tried several bottled waters, but then settled on Pepsico's Aquafina .. until I recently found out from a news article that it's only filtered tap water!!! &(*$#% public traded companies!!!!!!!!!
Distilled and purified water is acidic. For optimum health you must keep your body alkaline.
I do not drink purified water anymore without adding minerals back into the water.
The technical name for distilled water or purified water is "de-mineralized" water.
Spring water is best, but choose a brand that tells you what is in it you dont want nitrates (arrowhead).
Some spring water will use micro-filtration, Ozonation and Ultra-Violet light.
You can get a $6 liquid pool tester to the check the pH levels of your favorite water,
you can also see how much chlorine you are absorbing in the shower .

Dasani and Aquifina are definately better than regular tap water but do have their issues. I reccomend Fuji water and Evian which the latter is pH balanced and the first which has a pH balance that leans toward alkaline.
Here is a link that offers just about everything in reference to water sytems including Reverse Osmosis (for those that are of that opinion) also for distilled (de-mineralized) water (for those of that opinion. Shower filters for the neutral (get it?) and for those that want a deep hole to tap into the earths crust (water table), well, youre on your own for that one....lol....Click Here for the link to that site.
I use a reverse osmosis filteration system that I got from home depot for about $150 bucks. It's attatched to the kitchen sink system. What i do is fill the water from home in a glass pitcher and bring it to work. Thay way I don't get stuck drinking the water here at work.
If i do tend to forget the pitcher or don't feel like carring it in, i will use the aquifina bottled water. Not based on health issues but just because in my preference tastes the best out of all water brands because it's supposed to be from reverses osmosis filteration systems.
