Question for those in Phase 2 about what you can put on the skin

I am 2 weeks into Phase 1 of Dr. Simeon's Protocol, tryng to prepare for Phase 2, and I have a few questions. In regards to what you can put on your skin....can you still use regular deoderant, or should it be organic? What about soap, shampoo and conditioner? Regular or organic? Women - did you use mascara? Also, did anyone ever come up with an alternative to lotion for dry skin? My hands get terribly dry to the point of cracking and bleeding, so I would really appreciate a suitable substitute. Thank you!

I have not changed my soap or shampoo yet and I still use my same deodorant, but I have left off lotions and oils, though I am going to get a massage this week, (we'll see how that goes) hope I don't gain from it. I use Bare Minerals makeup so I haven't left it off either. I've been loosing so far, 8 lbs in 5 days so I am just going one day at a time maybe I'll do okay. Have you tried rubbing pure 100% Aloe Vera gel (local health food store) into your hands? I buy the kind for eating/drinking not the skin care products. It is very healing. it doesn't feel the same as the lotions and oils but it is softening and healing and I think might be pretty negligable of an effect as far as the protocol. No fat and few calories.

I haven't tried Aloe Vera, but I will now! Thank you so much for your input :) Much appreciated.

Hi Erica,

I would indeed consider finding a all natural herbal deoderant. There are many out there.
U just have to find which one works best for your chemistry.

I"ve been using organic, extra virgin coconut oil for 25 years. It's great for your skin, hair and I even take a spoon full every other day for general purpose. Make sure it does NOT say on the label "use for medium to high heat." This type tends not to smell so good. The regular kind smells like coconut.

Have a tremendous week...

Roger

Roger,

Thank you so much for responding. Did you use the coconut oil during Phase 2? If so, did you still lose weight? I thought the protocol stated NOT to use any oils...even on the skin. Maybe I misunderstood. Please reply if you can.

Kevin says in his book that you can use mineral oil if you skin gets too dry. I just started that this week. I train horses and I am washing my hands ALL day long so they get dry quickly. Every day I rub in some mineral oil and put on these gloves that help the oil soak into the skin. This has helped a lot.
I am staying away from all other oils because I am in Phase II. I am on day 5 and have lost 9 lbs. I am going to stick with what is working.
Good luck!

I wouldn't touch the oil, but the aloe vera gel sound slike a safer bet.

Erica, I have been wondering what everyone else has been doing, because we have to wash our hands and keep our bodies clean. Kevin says that you aren't supposed to use any lotions, or put anything on the skin except for a few exceptions: eyebrow pencil, facial powder, and lipstick are okay. I don't know why, but that's what it says in the book on page 95. But I don't understand that if we aren't allowed to do this, then how do we keep clean? Some people are saying that they use baking soda for washing their bodies in the shower, and also to brush their teeth. I've never tried the soda in the shower. But it sounds like a good alternative to body wash with oils. I'm on day 4 of phase 2 and I have lost 5 pounds so far. I have been using organic lotion on my face and hands because they get really dry. I also use organic shampoo and conditioner. For soap, I try to use organic as much as possible. But since I'm a clean freak, I do use antibacterial soap a lot. Maybe using this stuff has slowed my weight loss, but then again I only have about 30 pounds to lose. I would suggest that if you are going to put anything on your skin, make sure it's at least organic. Hope this helps.

Hi Amanda. It is great that you are using as much organic soaps and shampoos as possible but I don't think it matters at much as the lotion because you are washing it off immediately. That might be why he doesn't mention any of that in his book. He only mentions the products that sit on the skin and have time to really penetrate. Just a thought!
I tried the organic shampoos and did not like it. I have really oily hair and it made it worse. I went back to my original shampoos and I am losing fine.

I think I am going to go back to using my old shampoo and conditioners too because I can't find any organic ones that smell really good! I don't want my hair to smell like ginger, or grapes lol. The organic scents are too strong for me. Also, they are expensive.

Hi:
Like Nic, I think that Kevin is referring more to oily things that could stay or penetrate in your body. Is great if you want to use organic, but I do not think that is absolutely necessary. In addition, the products are quite expensive and I am pretty sure that you have spent enough already, like all of us, lol.
My experience is that I have combined skin and I am very alergic to the sun. So, I am continue using my scrub to wash my face, the toner and the acne medication in a very small amount, because in the third or fourth day my skin was already breaking out, and I hate acne. I have not changed any of the other products like deodorant, shampoo, soap or conditioner. I just apply my body splash or perfume over the clothes instead of over my skin.
I have being losing to a rate of 0.5 to 1.5 pounds every day. I did not do phase 1 because most of the stuff recommended, I usually do them, so I began directly in phase 2. Today is my 12th day in HCG and I have lost 11.8 pounds. I also have incorporated other things combining both diets Kevin's protocol with Dr. Simeons, for example I cannot drink black coffee without sugar, so I have my coffee in the morning with a little amount of milk and use the stevia to sweeten it, everything organic and without fat. It probably has slowed my weight loss a little bit, but I am fine with that.
My recommendation is to do what you consider is best in your judgment and evaluate it one day at a time, and look what works better for you.
Good luck!

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one doing this, because I too still use a little bit of makeup, regular deoderant, but I put my purfume on my clothes instead of on my skin also.
