My five year old began vomiting last night. It began about 10pm and she continued vomiting until bile began coming up along with dry heeves. She has had cold type symptoms for about a week: stuffy nose, scatchy throat, and cough. I pages the Doctor who told me to take her to ER. After spending all night and into the morning the ER doctor says she has a touch of pneumonia and prescribed an antibotic and medicine for the vomiting. This afternoon she developed a low grade fever! I called my regular doctor and he said it sounds like she has a virus. So, is this all the same thing or two different things? Pneumonia and a virus or is the pneumonia part of the virus? Im confused.

Maybe it's just me, but when my kids had the above symptoms (and they all have at least once) I never went to emergency or even the doctor for that matter. I would assume they picked up a bug somewhere and it would go away after a few days. I'd stop all food until they felt like eating and offer water when they were ready. Colds and flus usually run their course in due time as long as the child is generally healthy. Am I a bad parent?????
