Hey guys,
I've had acne for about 6 years now, and I'm 18 now. I'm really tired of treating it, but I'm pretty acne free as long as I keep up a regimen. I wash my face with the Acnefree exfoliating soap morning and at night. In the morning, I apply Benzaclin to my face, and use a Cetaphil moisturizer. At night, I apply Differin Cream, use a Cetaphil moisturizer, and take 100 mg of Minocyclin (an antibiotic).
Well, I want to get off all my medicine eventually. So far I have cut down my Minocyclin from twice a day to once a day. I would like any help you can give me.

An organic diet huh? I have a pretty healthy diet, with not much bad meat and oils, and after I cut Walmart dairy out of my diet I've taken care of the diet related acne. I'm working on going completely organic, but I'm going to college next year, and have to live off of cafeteria food for at least a semester, so I don't know...
The coconut oil idea sounds scary... Won't it clog my pores and make me break out more?

Hi! When I went away to college I immediately contacted the dietician on campus. Most college have one. She worked with me to purchase foods that were healthier and that I would actually eat. The college even paid for these foods! Nothing came out of my pocket in the 4 years I went to college. I would call the kitchen about half an hour before I would come for a meal and they would prepare the foods that I wanted for me. Although I do not know if all colleges (I went to Towson University in MD) would be this helpful, it may not hurt to ask! =)

Good girl, Shana! Nice to find another one whose motto is "can't eat it, don't rub it"....Me love coconut too!!!! My daughter has had best success so far with probiotics, flax oil, enzymes, and keeping the inside clean. She hates that I bug her about it, but I'm always asking if she moved her bowels today. Don't care who cares, but this is A&O for health. The wrongly called "primitive" people think nothing of moving their bowels 3x/daily. Wish I could, but I make sure 1x/daily is the norm.

yep I have! That's why I want to get off of those medication slowly. I know that if i stop them abruptly I'll lose all progress I've made (and waste all the money I put into them). My parents won't let me see an alternative practitioner, so I'm going to wait on doing the cleanses and more serious stuff,

Take a look at all the suggestions they make on the 'cure' for acne on the original naturalcures.com. It pretty much tells you everything you have to do. I dont suffer from acne that bad but I do have sensitive skin. What I do is take flax oil as a supplement and drink about a cup of aloe a day. I also use face wash with tea tree oil/aloe/calendula/lavender. Those are all natural cleansers that disinfect your face. With a mostly organic diet i'm almost always breakout free. What also could be a factor is stress. Try to eliminate it. Hope that helps!

Hello, I had bad acne as a teen (7 years on antibiotics)and have gotten it back as an adult for about a year and a half, thought I was done with it!! My 18 y/o son has horrible cystic acne. We have been totally organic, eating foods only for health since I read KT's first book 2 years ago. For about 4 months now we both have been drinking AloeLife aloe vera juice and using Aloelife skin gel from the healthfood store. Also we are using Dr. Ohirra's probiotic soap which is wonderful. My sons face has stopped oozing and no more cysts. The acne is in a healing mood. He looks SO good. Mine is mostly under control, I really have to watch what I eat. I have found that almonds, sugar and flour make my face explode.
My son found that milk, sugar make him explode. Good luck and I understand how horrible it makes you feel. I am starting to feel confident again and looking at people in their eyes when I talk to them. What a wonderful feeling! Again good luck! Just to let you know, over the last year or so, we have been usin several different natural products to combat this all with no luck. Mychelle products seems to be the best for a whole product line. Also for healing on the skin, you can use coconut oil...very nice and not greasy, it absorbs great. Also is castor oil, it is good for smoothing and healing, a small amount goes far. The castor oil, I would recommend using at night. Good luck and if you have questions, please ask.

i've started doing everything you guys have recommended or have been doing it already. I'm not going to limit my diet too much yet though, since I will be forced to eat cafeteria food for at least 6 months (in college). Can you please tell me more about those two cleanses? My colon is already pretty clean, since the Indian food my mom cooks takes care of it anyways, so i think I'm ready for it.

Ha ha, I'm really lucky since I naturally hate greasy and unhealthy stuff. So don't worry I'll be making the best choices I can.
I'll have to look into this tea tree oil. I'm still stuck with benzaclin and differin, but i finally got off antibiotics! :) My face is breaking out more, but I'm gonna try to get over it. Any recommendation for something oral that could take the place of the antibiotics?

Jay, don't let your College experience be tainted by Crapeteria food. Don't use, "I'm living in a dorm, and therefore can ONLY eat the "food" that they offer to me there. What school will you be attending? Go online and look for farmer's markets, health food stores, etc. that are close to campus. The more fresh fruits and veggies you can train yourself to eat, the easier dorm life will be for you. There are definitely other students out there in the same Organic boat as you, so see what you can do to track them down via sites like Meetup.com, etc. Good Luck!!!
