They had that stuff out years ago for animals and took it off the market. I don't know about different grades of the stuff but I do know that you have to be very very careful when you apply it and that you wash the area very well as that stuff will also take anything from your skin and absorb it. I also read that about what Kevin said--using it that is. I would not touch that stuff with a 10 ft.poll and I sure would not use it on the animals either. I don't care what grade it is. I about freaked out one nite when I saw my husband rubbing that stuff on my son's lower back. He had hurt his back playing football. It did take the pain away but he never used it again. I am glad he did not get sick and it was about a few months later that they started taking it off the market for animals.

It is not usually sold under the name pure DMSO for animals or human use because it is so cheap. There are a host of topical products used for humans and horses/animals that are chemical/pharm/compound similar. Under brand names they are much more expensive. Since DMSO is commercially available and cheap...it is not carried by Drug Stores etc. Plus the large drug companies lobbied to keep it off the market...again because it's cheap.
No producer of DMSO would advertise it for human consumption due to the above.
However...Stanley W. Jacob, M.D., of the Oregon Health and Science University, claims to have used MSM to treat over 18,000 patients with a variety of ailments (Jacob & Appleton, 2003) and MSM is the primary metabolite of DMSO in human...YES IT IS PART OF OUR CHEMICAL MAKEUP...weird eh?
Again...just like strawberries and peanuts can be extremely reactive, that would be no reason to remove them from markets. Again...just be careful. It was good your son was not allergic to pure DMSO. For those who are not allergic, it works wonderfully. It you send me your email address I will send you photos of my severe leg operation which DMSO seems to have worked wonders. I'm still alive and well but I cannot use DMSO within smelling distance of my wife whose reaction to the fumes of DMSO were horrible.
Dr. Jabob drank pure DMSO to prove it was ok for humans...good thing my wife wasn't given a spoonful because I am convinced she would have died within hours.
Remember also that many, many, common things will kill if ingested in large amounts. Alcohol is a wonderful substance taken in moderation or used to cleanse the skin. Too much and adios...:)
Tobacco is used for inflamation as are mustard packs and many teas...but smoking can produce cancer and some tea drank or used as a topical application on the skin can be very helpful to heal. Same tea in volume would kill the average person. And Mustard Gas...kills... sooooo...use care!
DMSO is no more harmful to the AVERAGE person than other similar chemicals. Also look up MSM as it is used medically in topical applications and see the chemical structure. Looks a lot like DMSO but has a better name and seems to be a lot less controversial. But I guarantee that there is a small percentage of people to whom it would cause a negative reaction. We are humans with a chemical structure. Foods are made up of chemicals. The majority of wonderful drugs that help mankind comes from chemicals/oils extracted from plants and foods.

Jon and others who use DMSO, I could use some advice. I'm about to start using DMSO as a carrier to get MMS into my system for the treatment of lyme disease and babesiosis. It's actually the DMSO I'm concerned about using. I have it at home and I need to test it, but I'm concerned about having things other than the dmso carried into my blood. If I wash with tap water, I'm concerned about chlorine and even bacteria. If I rub the area that I applied the dmso against something else such as my clothing or something with bacteria on it, I'm concerned about that.

I've searched and I've not found any specific directions for application or any don'ts and do's other than the ones mentioned here. Can anyone help me with this?

I am learning about this myself. I have put off using it for over a year just because I was nervous. Now this is what I do:

First wash area with soap and good filtered water (reverse osmosis, distilled or water filtered through black berkey filters and the fluoride filters) (not tap water). In some cases I also apply food grade hydrogen peroxide (3.5%, not high-strength), then rinse again with the purified water. I then apply the DMSO (mine is 30% DMSO and 70% distilled water) with an organic cotton ball (because regular commercial cotton balls have been treated with toxic ingredients according to Dr. Hulda Clark's books). I make sure no fabric will touch the area where the DMSO has been applied until it is totally dry plus for at least 30 minutes.

I'm no expert, but in case that helps... Oh, one more thing: I do NOT use rubber gloves when applying the dmso, just dried clean hands. I also only use DMSO in dark brown glass bottles because I just want to be certain nothing from the plastic has leached into it.

tara first of all what your saying is untrue i have highest respect for natural mediation and anyone who defends it, what happen to me and my family is unfortunate when i read the more natural cures revealed on page 67 i got really excited aboat the dmso how it cures viruses and it never once says anything about danger of industrial grade theres people out their selling wrong grade to people like me whos deperate who dosnt know about that much about the dmso i feel kevin trudeau who writes a book about certain product he should do more reasearch plus on page 47 theres the web site called www.dmso.com which i ordered it they also lied about there product they said there the manafacture and but it came from china and it has arsenic in it, i sent it to the lab and it came back as that. thats why iam still very sick i have nerve damage plus my glands on my neck swollen and hurting and my legs are damaged.

I appreciate your intent to warn people about the product you ordered. I think it is also important to remember that just because someone is a "good guy" does not make him nor anyone he knows or recommends a "good guy." When it comes to alternative healing, especially since the Great Profit-makers do everything they can to block our way and the FDA is of little help, we must be very careful and vigilant. Because of the Big Pharma and its control over the "rules" it can be tricky. People who are selling pharmaceutical grade are apparently not allowed to say so because that would imply human use. One thing I do is make sure it is sold in dark glass bottles because many plastics will leach out bisphenol A for instance. I know that the brand Dr. Jacob sells is a plastic, LDPE plastic, but that does not leach bisphenol A and is considered safe by many people. However I do not trust the plastic for holding a solvent such as DMSO. I am also a big believer in doing a test on a smaller amount of skin first to make sure there are no bad reactions.

Again, thank you for warning people about this brand and that after you had it tested it was found to contain arsenic and other toxic substances.

you've been writing about DMSO since LAST YEAR. stop wasting everyone's time and either do something to help yourself and take people's advice or quit posting. quit wasting everyone's time about DMSO. it's obvious you just like to complain. again, you've been doing it since LAST YEAR. so, if you are really interested in helping yourself, do something, take people's advice, and then tell us how it worked for you. I would think as horrrible as you say you feel you would've tried something by now, hopefully something that worked. and if not, then you are not interested in anything but trying to stir up controversy.

I agree with Tara & Maverick...this is just stupid on the part of Greer123. Mam, what more do you need, what more can you learn, what more can you share? NOTHING!
I have empathy for your situation...but no sympathy whatsoever. Just stop it PLEASE and get on with your life the best you can. We all suffer diversities, illness, and pain. There are many who die from heart attack/cancers/malaria and more. Pick yourself up the best you can and just stop this stupid complaining.
If you gain new insight, new information, or start getting better...then let us all know. Other wise just STOP IT!
