Yup. That's right. I'm one of those socially leperous individuals who still smoke. My nutritionist gave me the date of Sept 3rd (Labor Day) to be an ex-smoker, as my smoking is hindering my progress to becoming more alkaline. I'm feeling like she's right. I'm hitting a plateau and I have to get over this hump.

When I have quit in the past, I would go cold-turkey and be laid out for three days on the couch. Then be a grumpy b*stard for a few weeks. There MUST be an easier way! One that doesn't involve nicotine patches, gums or drugs.

Ex-smokers: What did you do to quit? Any nutrients or tips you would suggest to make the transition to non-smoker any easier?

PS: Don't stone me!!!!

Hi Tim, I know just what you mean.

I listened to Kevin's CD and will be starting this weekend. I have quit before for many years and used a book called "Easy Way to quit Smoking" by Alan Carr. It really works and Kevin suggests it in his CD. After you read the book, you realize that it's actually easy to quit. Tons of Vitamin C helps. Get the CD and listen to it a few times.

Please let me know how you're doing, OK?

Thanks for the suggestion, Maverick. I did read Alan Carr's book several months ago and did quit for a few days, but fell again.

I guess the bottom line is that I just have to be FIRM in my resolution to quit.

That seems to be the tough part. :(

Stopping smoking can be hard. I tried 4 times before I finally was able to kick it for good. All I did was found something that I wanted more than anything else, in my case it was marrying the man of my dreams and having a family, for you it could be the alkaline state you are striving for. Then throw out your smokes, break them all in half and throw them away. Everytime you want one remember why you really don't. Another thing that helped my husband quit chewing was a book called "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr. Good luck. I know you can do it.

I quit about a month ago.Oral spray (homeopathic, stop cravings, stop smoking or smth like that),I also had some drops but didn't even use them-they felt too strong. Also cinnamon and tea tree tooth picks were helpfull and I only used that stuff for less then a week.good luck!

I quit smoking six years ago. I quit cold turkey. Now I should tell you that I was not a heavy smoker.. actually, I was a closet smoker... smoked about 10 cigs a day. But.. I was addicted, nonetheless. I joined a support group online called "The Quitnet". I joined a group within that group who had the key for me.. a sense of humor! Kept my mind OFF smoking. In addition, these three important keys were vital...at least for me... the desire to want to quit becoming stronger than the desire to smoke, finding something else to focus on other than smoking. I took up writing poetry... Hey! It worked! ...and the support of those going through the same emotions of letting go of the addiction. You CAN quit!! It's a mind game! Your mind is STRONGER than the addiction!

Sharlene, I work in a business that deals with credit card payments. All you have to do is contact your bank and dispute the charge letting them know you paid for a service but never received the product. They will credit your card for the amount you paid. I know you hate to do that and you definitely shouldn't have to but considering the circumstances, you have to stand up for yourself.

Hi, if you stop cold turkey I would advise you to drinls lots and lots of water and exercise as much as you can handle health wise,it seems to help with the urges. A doctor will usually prescribe zyban to you but of course that makes you have to urinate alot and it will upset your stomach.

Wow I could type for days about this...In my opinion...
Allan Carr's book will convince you to quit but will not CURE you...I quit smoking and started the HCG diet on the same day...I lost 32 pounds in 38 days...after the diet when I started eating foods with sugar in them again I went into a downward spiral consuming increasing amounts of sugar...The reason why stopping smoking is so hard (and why drug addicts always relapse) is because the residuals of these substances remain in our fat cells and become restimulated causing cravings again...after the person quits and has a craving, he/she will usually eat a bunch of sugar, which is more evidence that the core problem was not fixed...if you read the book "Clear Body Clear Mind" it talks about the Purification Program...it's a hardcore program but if you do it I could virtually guarantee that you quit smoking...it'd also be good to read Allan Carr's book right before you start the program I think...for those who don't want to do the program I've heard there's a liver cleanse/lung product from www.curezone.com or you can call 1 - 800 - HERB DOC but I haven't used those products myself
