I'm heading back to school at 50 yrs. young and wonder if anyone can suggest a good supplement to get my brain functioning optimally?? The research I've done tells me to include the following:
CoQ10
DHA
Gingko Biloba
Vit. E
Wondering if I can get these all-in-one in capsule form? Anyone take anything like this? or other that helps them?
Antioxidant-Rich Fruits and Vegetables. The best of these, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, strawberries, spinach, raspberries, brussels sprouts,
plums, broccoli, beets, avocados, oranges, red grapes, red bell peppers, cherries, and kiwis. Five servings a day of fruits and vegetables is recommended.

Treesha:
The mind and the brain are not the same, despite what conventional medicine thinks.
Think of the brain as a crossbar which holds the strings (nerves) of a puppet (the body). Signals travel from the crossbar to the puppet, making it dance. That's the brain. It's the body's signal control center.
The mind is basically a computer harddrive; it holds files (memories), folders (subjects), all indexed by time. You think of a tiger, you index to "animals", then find the file "tiger" and pull it up to see. The mind is a monstrously huge filing cabinet with billions of files.
If you want to increase the functionality of your mind, it wouldn't hurt to cleanse the body. As a matter of fact, it's essential. A tired or under-productive body will have a sluggish mind as well (due to the mind having to work through the problems of the body). Having that accomplished, puzzles are excellent for getting the mind accustomed to "flipping through the files" to find solutions.
After all, the mind's primary function is problem-solving. Right?
Thanks, guys. I guess I knew the answer to my own question...... after reading the Ultra Mind Solution a while back, understanding that the mind and body is one entity and not two, it is essential to eating the best foods and cleansing would make sense. I'm just a little nervous about an on-line college course! (After all, it's been quite a while since high school!) I was just thinking that perhaps an added supplement could put the icing on the cake, for that extra kick that I probably need.
I was actually looking into Super Juice and found this. http://www.stopagingnow.com/SFE/Super-Fruit-Elixir-Liquid-Supplement
What ya'll think about this one? And on the very same site I came across Brain Support and in which this particular brand so happens to have the ingredients you are looking for. Well, two out of four anyway. Gingko Biloba and Vitamin E are sold seperately but will find it when you click on Brain Support to the left of this website.
Here is the list.
Each serving contains:
R-Alpha Lipoic Acid 200 mg
Curcumin C3 Complex
(standardized to 95% total curcuminoids) 200 mg
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) (from marine algae) 100 mg
Coenzyme Q10
(from Kaneka Q10) 100 mg
Vitaberr (berries, various fruits)
(standardized to 30% polyphenols & 18% proanthocyanins) 30 mg
Vinpocetine 10 mg
I agree with Tim with puzzles. Helps solve memory loss and forgetfulness. Another point that has to be kept in mind is to be alert. Try this exercise. When lying in bed, before you fall asleep. Recall the activites you did that day, people you met, and so on. Back track what you did on that day. I do that at times if I don't forget. Hahaha Actaully when I am not too tired. Like Tim said cleansing is essential and I personally think adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet because they contain important vitamins that the body needs. But I see nothing wrong with adding a supplement daily because I agree it could give you the extra kick that you probably need.
Well done on going back to school. You'll be fine! The supplements you've researched are excellent brain food. Brahmi is another great herb specifically for the brain/memory. Good luck!
