HEY GUYS I finally found something that would be beneficial to Everyone & this site!!!!

Simple Instructions on Sprouting
and Soaking Nuts and Seeds:

If you've started reading raw cookbooks, you've probably noticed that soaking nuts and seeds is a pretty common practice!

Here's the link to the website; http://www.raw-food-living.com/soaking-nuts.html

The main reason soaking nuts and seeds is so important is because they contain enzyme inhibitors.

The purpose of these enzyme inhibitors is to protect the nut or seed until it has what it needs for growing.

Nature allowed the inhibitors and toxic substances to be easily removed when the conditions (enough rain and sun) were met.

In nature, when it rains the nut gets enough moisture so it can germinate and produce a plant. The plant then continues to grow with the sunlight.

By soaking nuts and seeds, you release these toxic enzyme inhibitors AND increase the life and vitality contained within them!

The Benefits of Soaking Nuts and Seeds

Enzyme inhibitors get neutralized.

The amount of vitamins your body can absorb increases.

Gluten breaks down so digestion is much easier.

Phytic acid, which inhibits the absorption of vital minerals, is reduced.

Soaking times vary with the nut. Generally the more dense the nut, the longer the soaking time. Ideally, soaking should be done at room temperature.

Below is a soaking and sprouting chart. If you click on the nut or seed link, it will bring you to My Amazon Store. I tried to choose the nuts and/or seeds with the best reviews, free shipping, or both.

Feel free to browse the store by clicking on the category links. There are several different brands, quantities, and prices of each nut/seed to choose from.

Well there you have a detailed list. Hope this was helpful because while I know everyone knew about soaking the beans, I was wondering about the nuts! Assuming that Our Divine Creator meant for Babies, Children, and our Elders [like the healthy long gevity Hunza people] to also enjoy these nutritious raw foods without destroying any of its health values. I didn't know because its always said that cooking depletes foods nutrients. But I always wanted to know how to make it soft enough for anyone to eat. Now I guess soaking is the best bet and a vital necessity that should be practiced before consumption of most of these whole foods. Hope this helps many!

Oh, thaaaaaaaaank YOU!! This was great! I did not know this; thanks so much for passing it along to us all. I'm making copies of this info to put in my files. Great info! Keep up the good work; I'm sure there may be many others out there that need this info too. So good to know; and it's even better to know the "why's" and the reasons for doing it.

will soaking nuts remove the acidifying quality of nuts and seeds? As in they wouldn't be considered to drop body pH once they are soaked. Would they actually be considered alkaline then?

Thanks for the information, Chanel. I have a question for you about sprouting. After you soak the seeds or nuts and drain off the water, do you sprout them in the dark or in sunlight? The rawfoodliving site says not to put the seeds in direct sunlight, but what about indirect? Don't seeds need sunlight to sprout, gather energy and become green?
