I've been eating all raw, all vegan for the past three days, until last night an emergency came up and I had to babysit my niece and nephew all night long. I was really hungry, so I had some roasted pistacio nuts and a piece of cake. BAD IDEA. I felt like my colon was twisted into a thousand knots. Then my husband brought me vegetarian Chinese food and insisted that I eat it today . ANOTHER BAD IDEA. My stomach is torn up and won't tolerate cooked food or animal products any more. Is this normal in so short a time? Also, is eating all raw known to boost your energy levels incredibly? Because a couple of days ago I decided to do a very intense workout and figured maybe I'd get through half. I did the whole thing in addition to weight lifting and a 15-minute ab workout! I felt AWESOME.

I know a lot of you are experts on all this, so what exactly are the pros and cons to eating raw? I thinking it must be the best thing because my acne, although it's slight now, has miraculously disappeared, I've lost weight, built muscle, and my overall sense of well-being is just incredible. Also, my body's rejected meat, animal products and cooked food.

I've been transitioning to more raw, but not 100% raw. My natural Doctor recommends 100% raw, no animal products to all of his people. That is the lifestyle that he teaches. When I eat a lot of raw foods, I feel fantastic. So, I definitley think it makes you feel better and provides more energy for the body. The main benefit I have learned about raw food is that it contains enzymes. Enzymes are needed for every function in the body. The enzymes are what makes the difference. The food breaks down itself because of the enzymes; therefore, the body doesn't have to do much work digesting it. This also saves the body using from it's store of enzymes. Everyone has a certain amount of enzymes (I'm not sure how this works but I have heard a little about it) and it's better to conserve that storehouse of enzymes rather than use them up. I know I feel a lot worse when I eat cooked food. I'm not sure about the rejecting part. I haven't experienced that yet. Maybe you need to transition more slowly or eat some cooked food everyday in moderation.

I had that pain at first when I went to 100% raw food. The best cure for it is a coffee enema. It takes the pain away in about 2 minutes. It happens whenever I eat anything that is not raw, and it is linked to toxemia. When you start increasing your nutritional levels right away, then it pushes a lot of toxins to your liver. If you do not clear them out right away, then it can be very painful. This only happens for the first few months that you eat raw or if you eat anything that is not raw.

That's great that your acne is clearing up already. Sandy's has cleared up as well, and she is even losing moles that have been there basically her entire life! You will find that your energy will increase, but the time it takes to see results depends on how many toxins your body has to get rid of first. It is by far the best health choice Sandy and I have ever made to go raw!

So if you go 100% raw without transitioning but then don't eat cooked foods at all, after a few months (if you ate cooked food) would this pain not happen? Is there any danger in going 100% raw cold turkey in and of itself? I am trying to go raw too. I went 5 days straight last week 100% raw and I felt fine, but then this week I have been eating mostly cooked foods as I haven't had the money to go buy the raw stuff. I am planning to go all raw though and I want to just do it rather than making a transition. Also, I don't see myself ever doing a coffee enema....EVER. :)

I'm starting to do thepaleo diet because 100% raw doesn't work for me at all. I went down to 150 lbs and was very weak. The paleo seems to work well for me. A little meat (fish, chicken, turkey) and mostly fruits and vegetables. 80% fruits and veggies and 20 % fish or meats.
Just remember everybody. There isn't one diet out there that will work for everyone. I'm living proof of that.

Yeah, I think that the most important thing to do is to listen to YOUR body and do what feels right. I was/am losing weight without eating raw, I only weigh 105 lbs right now, so maybe I will gain weight eating raw; who knows, right? Also, I do NOT feel good when I eat meat, dairy, or wheat so what does that leave.....

I can be a vegan as long as it's nota raw vegan. I eat things like veggie ham, pasta, rice, beans. If I follow that I'm OK, but for some reason 100% raw causes me to loose too much weight and I get weak.
Vegan isn't as good as a raw vegan but it's better than being a huge meat eater. Perhaps I'm still trying to figure out what to eat. Christina, what are you eating?I'm still trying to figure out what to eat

The only danger in going 100% raw overnight involves detoxification. In some cases your body releases so many toxins from eating raw food that it will be too much for the liver to handle by itself according to the Gerson Institute. They also state that if you develop pain under the rib cage, where the liver is, then you have to do coffee enemas to relieve the pain. The pain is the worst I have ever felt, worse than getting kicked in the groin! Which is why I started to do coffee enemas. It takes the pain away in under 2 minutes. In fact it takes away any pain from any part of the body rather quickly.

Yeah, that makes sense. Perhaps I should do a little more gradually then. Although I tend to be a "just do it all at once" kind of person so this may be a little hard for me.....

Pros: It's good for your teeth.
Cons: You gotta have teeth.
