I've been eating all raw, all vegan for the past three days, until last night an emergency came up and I had to babysit my niece and nephew all night long. I was really hungry, so I had some roasted pistacio nuts and a piece of cake. BAD IDEA. I felt like my colon was twisted into a thousand knots. Then my husband brought me vegetarian Chinese food and insisted that I eat it today . ANOTHER BAD IDEA. My stomach is torn up and won't tolerate cooked food or animal products any more. Is this normal in so short a time? Also, is eating all raw known to boost your energy levels incredibly? Because a couple of days ago I decided to do a very intense workout and figured maybe I'd get through half. I did the whole thing in addition to weight lifting and a 15-minute ab workout! I felt AWESOME.

I know a lot of you are experts on all this, so what exactly are the pros and cons to eating raw? I thinking it must be the best thing because my acne, although it's slight now, has miraculously disappeared, I've lost weight, built muscle, and my overall sense of well-being is just incredible. Also, my body's rejected meat, animal products and cooked food.

I think completely raw is no good. You'll over alkalize the body, which is no better than over acidifying your body. I think a diet high in raw food mixed with cooked food is good. Cooking does denature some enzymes, but not always completely(cooking at extremely high temp isn't good period). Also, cooking releases nutrients locked in the molecular structure of food that would otherwise not have undergone a complete catabolism by the body.
