My husband is set to get his wisdom tooth removed next week and they always give you antibiotics to take. I didnt take any last time I got my teeth out but I called a natural food store to see if there was something he could take instead of antibiotics and they told me since gum disease is so prevalent w/ that, to go ahead and take the antibiotics and then take acidophilus when finished w/ that. I dont agree. Anybody have any advice they'd like to share? Also what is the difference between acidophilus and probiotic??
Yes. There is a form of natural "antibiotic" called Allicillin Pro (made by GMP) which is concentrated extracts of garlic. My holistic practitioner gives it to me when she finds elevated levels of bacteria in my blood. Google "Allicillin Pro."
Acidophillus is one strain of probiotic, out of many. They are natural living organisms in your intestinal tract which maintain digestive health.
The derivation of the word probiotic: pro (meaning "for") and bio (meaning "life"). Probiotics are essential for personal health. To my knowledge, there are 14 strains of probiotics. Acidophillus is only one.
Antibiotics are the opposite: anti ("against") and bio ("life"). In theory--and conventional medical practice--antibiotics are meant to kill invading bacterial organisms. Unfortunately, they also kill the natural organisms in the digestive tract (also can be called "flora"--again, such as acidophillus), causing a multitude of health problems later on if they're not corrected.
We generally stay away from conventional antibiotics.
I actually purchase my food-grade H2O2 from my local health food store. You might want to check out those in your area before ordering by mail. It ran me $20 for a 16oz bottle.
No I don't. But if you browse the forum, you'll probably find several sources. This is a pretty common subject as it's practically a miracle cure in itself.
My bottle says it was from O-W & Company. Try this link (the bottle looks right, although mine says 35%, not 12...)
When i had mine removed i never took antiboitics. They gave me vaicadin and codeine pills for the pain and that was it. If you brush and use mouthwash you really shouldn't get any infection. Ive never heard of anyone getting infected after removal of wisdom teeth. My teeth aren't perfect. I brush once a day. I don't flos. Most of the time i don't even use mouthwash.
Thank you for your replys. Tim, thanks for the explanation, I understand better about those now. Yeah, I've not taken antibiotics for years since reading Kevin's books.
