I am really leary of taking various supplements, just like I would be about taking more than one rx drug at a time. Are there any websites that could help me know what types of supplements are safe to take together?
Instead of supplements, try a raw food diet. With the proper balance of raw foods, then you will never need supplements at all. Plus the food tastes better anyway, try reading my latest blog about raw cheesecake. :D
Greg-----Steve is right---raw food is the best way to go. If you are not sure how to put it all together, then start out with a whole food supplement. At least you are getting something and it is better than taking all those pills.Cheaper too. It is a place to start !!
i have taken the vitamin code for family...i do like it but i don't like the fact you have to take 4....but i feel they are good and there organic...:)
The only vitamins you can get too much of are A,D,E, and K. That is what most Doctors, traditional and alternative, will tell you. That is referring to supplemental vitamin D, not vitamin D from the sun. If you get vitamin d from the sun, you can't get too much. The rda for vitamin d is too low from what I've heard. It's important to get the right amount of vitamin d. Several of the rda's are too low from what I've heard. Some of them are ok. The main point is A, D (from supplements), E, and K are the ones that you don't want to get too much of. All the rest of the vitamins are water soluble and the body eliminates what it doesn't need.
I'm not sure about minerals but you don't have to worry about getting too much magnesium. Magnesium is the most abundant mineral in the body. I saw a recent article that said that over 75 % of women are deficient in magnesium. I'm sure the percentage is probably similar for men. If anything, what I have learned is that you should be more concerned about not getting enough of the various supplements as opposed to getting too much. For example, it is important to get vitamin c. One of the reasons that supplemention is so much more important now is that we are fighting all kinds of polutants from the air, and all the other places. The more polutants, the more you have to combat those with the right nutrition, cleansing, water, etc. Getting vitamins from food is obviously the best, but I don't eat a perfect diet everyday, that is why I supplement. I take alot of different supplements. All the supplements I take are whole food supplements, which are the best. My Doctor doesn't believe in too many supplements, but he does use quite a few of them. He told me I have to take a multi vitamin for the time being because my body is so nutrient starved. He can tell that from all of my tests. Once I improve my lifestyle and diet, I may not have to take that. There is also one that I take that is trace minerals that I really notice a difference from taking. That one is called Cell Food. If you want to know what I take, let me know. As far as taking things together, what are you referring to exactly? If you give me an example, I can comment about it.
I read that liquid Trace Ionic minerals were the best. So much out there that it is really hard to tell just what you are getting when you buy a product----good to have a doctor that can lead you in the right direction--wish we had one around here that I could go to.
The next time I go to my Doctor, I'll ask him what he thinks about that one. Do you have a website for it? My Doctor only uses the best of the best so he should know. Those two products may be similar. I'm probably going to go there tomorrow to buy some products. My Doctor does telephone consultations if you are interested, I can give you the website.
Nyota1--I found a couple places but like this one the best--http://www.healthyinformation.com/ ----you can listen to Dr. Whiting's videos and click on the spot below that and it will take you to the phoenix nutritional page to see the product and read more about it. Also found--http://www.naturalhealthtechniques.com/Basicsof Health/Ionic_minerals.htm and some good info on there about Ionic minerals and Trace minerals. I sorta got lost on that one because I was clicking on the (blue) letters all the time, which of course took me to more information. Spent the whole day reading !!!!! I would be curious as to what your doctor thinks of these liquid minerals. I think you gave me your doctors web site before but not sure----I have so many things saved and really have to go through them and get rid of the ones I don't need any more.
these are all very helpful ideas. How bout mixing probiotics, cleanses. Or if you are taking an herb to help with ailment? I am always concerned with what is ok to take while taking a cleanse, or herbal(for a treatment).
It probably all varies, but was just wondering if there are resources I can learn for myself on this. Unfortunately I cannot afford a Naturopath, or Herbalist.
With so much free information on the internet, I honestly don't know why anyone would go to any type of doctor anymore for a disease. I found the cure for cancer online, and one of my best friends used it to cure his cancer. It is called the Gerson Therapy, and it cures every disease known to man. It's basically raw organic food, vegetable juices, coffee enemas, and perhaps a few other minor things depending on the situation. Who needs any type of doctor when you can cure yourself? I even set my last broken bone myself.
