After an exhausting road trip, I binged on foods that were definitely not on the diet. I continued to do so for two more days. Many of my symptons returned including acne - agh! Its so amazing how my flare-ups are so obviously linked to eating foods that feed the candida. Yesterday, I got back on the wagon eating akaline forming veggies, red pototaoes, cultured veggies and apple cider vinegar. I already feel better! But the cravings for sugar are still there. Also, I know that coffee is definitely not on the diet, but I have continued to drink coffee throughout this whole process. I'm going to really put more effort into drinking hot tea instead. Spring is approaching, and my desire for hot coffee usually decreases anyway. Wish me well as I jump back on the road to recovery! Thanks everyone.

Speaking of coffee--yeah I have completely stopped drinking it since starting the diet 22 days ago and from time to time I really really miss it. This weekend I found a drink called Maya that I think is just tea that tastes like coffee(or so the box says)--it was in a health food store and contains no coffee beans and nothing really but herbs. Anyone know if this is ok to drink on the diet? That would be great to know when I have those cravings I can just drink that.
I worry about gaining weight back if I do start drinking coffee again....

Thanks for the info about the tea. I looked the Maya up on the internet. It looks pretty good. The Body Ecology definitely includes herbal teas that do not contain things like citris or other fruits that are not on the diet. I saw that some Maya teas contain some of these things, but I'm sure that there are other teas too. Good luck!

Don't worry about it...just like the book states, don't beat yourself up. Just pick up where you left off and jump back on the wagon. Coconu kefir is GREAT for curbing those sugar cravings. Since im on phase two of the diet now and can have some fruit....I virtually never have sugar cravings anymore. I have tried to eat a sweet something here and there but feel like I want to barf when I do so. I find this is a good sign. Keep going...don't give up. The herbal teas will also help!

yes coffee is bad, even organic coffee. It sure is good though. Tyr drinking Oolong,Yerba Mate, or green tea, these a re defininely better for you. Coffee is acidic so if you want to go alkaline, stay away from it. WIsh you well, dont beat yourself over it though. I think we (speaking for myself) all go off sometimes when we go on trips and places. its very difficult to find places that have good food. one thin I've learned is if you see mom and pop sandwich shop I will definitely pick that place over Bxxxxxking or Mc'xxxxxxxx (cant use names anymore-how dumb is that?) anyways thats a different topic.....lol......

Just an update: I have been following the diet for the past month and doing well. Yay!

Great--me too! A little over a month and a half.Lost about 18 lbs.Yippee!! I'm feeling really tired this morning though-and I haven't felt like this in a while.
I have an upcoming trip(5 hour flight) and am nervous about being able to continue the diet while I'm away. It's only 4 days but still. Any suggestions? I don't know if my fermented veggies will travel very well.

I've traveled with the cultured veggies by car, and it was totally fine. I don't know, however, how it will do on the plane. I remember reading in the book that taking jarred veggie baby food with you on trips could help you make sure you meet the 80ish% rule. That is, of course, if you can stomach it. I tried it once and it was gross! 18lbs! That's amazing. Congrats! Do you know why you are feeling tired? Are you cleansing? My face is broken out today. I think its because I've had too much acidic food. I've had two colonics the past two weeks, and my therapist warned me, too, that I could break out as I was cleansing. Interestingly, I also had a blood test with an ND who actually said that he didn't see any candida in my blood, so I don't have what they call leaky gut, but he did see other parasites. Yum. Hope your trip goes well. If you eat meat, its easy to travel. Half a portion of what the restaurant serves you of meat and the rest veggies. If you don't eat meat, its harder, but possible. Veggie plates plus salads or you might be lucky and find a restaurant that serves "alternative" grains. There is one here in Atlanta that is actually based on the body ecology diet. It's great. Again, good luck.

I'm actually going to Atlanta---weird that you said that.I used to go to R. Thomas all the time back in the day way before I even knew about B.E.D. so I'll be making a trip there.
I wonder if there's other alternatives to getting colonics because that still doesn't feel safe to me.
I know everyone and their mother gets them out in LA but I'm still not sure about them.
I've been drinking dandelion tea and lots of water, and exercising, and rebounding...so hopefully that's pulling out most of the toxins.I'm almost 2 months in. I feel good most days but every now and then I'll feel super tired or get a headached and am really not sure why. My mind was racing this past saturday-almost as if I'd had lots of caffeing but I hadn't.I'd just made quinoa pancakes and had my usualy soup/salad lunch. Go figure.
