After an exhausting road trip, I binged on foods that were definitely not on the diet. I continued to do so for two more days. Many of my symptons returned including acne - agh! Its so amazing how my flare-ups are so obviously linked to eating foods that feed the candida. Yesterday, I got back on the wagon eating akaline forming veggies, red pototaoes, cultured veggies and apple cider vinegar. I already feel better! But the cravings for sugar are still there. Also, I know that coffee is definitely not on the diet, but I have continued to drink coffee throughout this whole process. I'm going to really put more effort into drinking hot tea instead. Spring is approaching, and my desire for hot coffee usually decreases anyway. Wish me well as I jump back on the road to recovery! Thanks everyone.

I have not continued with the veggies either. I used to eat them daily, but actually really enjoy the coconut kefir, and it seems to help so much more. Rachel, how did your trip go? I was out of town this weekend, again, and it is so much harder on the road. I'm pretty proud of myself, though. I did pretty well on the plan. Portioning everything is a real problem on the road. I don't think I was had 80% veggies but I had at least some on my plate.

I actually leave this weekend! I'm taking the ultragreens with me on the plane, almonds, and some flax seed crisps....that's it! My family lives in the boonies so I'll do the best I can. Last weekend I did have a few cheats--was out with friends and there was no way around it so it was my first big indulgence in 2 months and I did ok. Had 2 glasses of wine which is a no-non but then I went home and drank some kefir.I'll let ya know how it goes:)

So I'm back and I'm happy to say I did well on my trip.Of course I ate a few things completely not on B.E.D but I find if I do it in moderation it doesn't even really effect me. I had about 5 corn chips and 1 beer one day while everyone was hanging out and it was fine. I definitely felt the alcohol from that 1 beer which is funny--because I don't really drink at all anymore. I also had 3 spoons of ice cream (first time having dairy in over 2 months) and it tasted amazing and I was fine. I figure my body has adjusted with the diet, so it can handle these "cheats". I did go to R. THomas(B.E.D.) in Atlanta and it was awesome. I used to go there years ago before I knew about the diet so it was cool to order a shot of kefir and some veggies and pate on the menu....I had my greens in the morning with stevia and ate steamed veggies and protein. The thing I noticed was the day I flew back (5 hour flight) I had been up since 1:30am west coast time and still had lots of energy all day so I made some soup, etc for the week. Usually I would feel so drained and out of it from a trip like that.So maybe it's all working:)

That is great! I'm glad your trip went well. I find small cheats like corn chips, coffee, nuts, some fruit suit me fine, but things like baked goods and sugary foods are terrible. I have not had a sweet since March 19 but tonight wanted some soy ice cream so bad...it could have killed me. But I didn't. I didn't because I knew my body would feel weird tomorrow, and I would probably continue to cheat. Its like a drug to me. If you need any support ever, please feel free to e-mail me. My friends, though supportive, don't relate. I need as much support as possible.

I also have noticed that I have lots more energy. I usually have to nap a lot and have not been napping the past few weeks. Its amazing!

Ok - one more thing - what kind of soup do you make? I have yet to make soup but am eager to try it.

Yeah I've been "cheating" for the past 3 weeks allowing myself 2 coffees per week. They're without sugar and most of the cup is soy milk with some coffee.I also have had a few organic dark chocolate chips(no sugar), and blue corn chips-which are in the BED book. I find that most for the most part I feel ok after these cheats--but yeah I do want them more than just once a week. But come on, I'm in my 3rd month of BED as of next week, and have been very strict with it. I feel like if my body reacts ok then it should be ok? I'm contacting my health coach soon to figure out what I can add on now that I'm at the 2nd stage.I'm worried about gaining weight with anything added, such as beans or soy. Any thoughts on stage 2?
Soups---so good! Carrot ginger and the butternut squash recipe (in the book).
I make them every week.I also made the greens soup in the book (like everything thrown in--green beans, broccoli, kale.

Sounds like you are listening to your body - I don't know what I did this past week but something not great - i'm totally broken out, like I used to be before BED - It might be stress; I've been really busy with changes - Also, I have had some cheats - not on sugar just poor food combining - I had friends in town for a birthday party. I made two cakes, and there was another one in the house. I didn't take one bite. Amazing! Three cakes around the house. I thought about the sugary sweetness for four days, but didn't eat any. I don't know anything about stage 2 really. I have the old version of the BED book and it doesn't mention stages. I think that is an add-on.

So after doing BED for almost a year now, I have fallen off the wagon for the past month.Although I follow it at my home, I tend to go out often since getting over a major heartbreak. Any advice for how to jump back in --the most beneficial way? I know what to do pretty much, but I have gained 6 lbs and feel gross. I wonder if buying all of the expensive items(cultered veggies, kefir, greens powder) is the only way I can be successful at it?
Thoughts?

I don't know that you have to spend too much money, but eating cultured veggies would definitely help. I have been juicing greens mixed with a green apple, and it gets me in an alkaline condition pretty quickly. Also, I drink the Kombucha drinks - a probiotic juice - and that helps a lot. Good luck. Stay in touch.

Thanks Brook---I'll probably go on and get the cultured veggies this week then....and hold off on other things (fish oil, almond milk, greens powder and kefir). All of those things for sure add up!
The kombucha--is that the tea they sell at whole foods? I tried it and it was awful! Ha--maybe i need a good suggestion of one to try.
Talk soon.
