Okay... so.. how many of you (us) still drive around with the music BLARING? I'm guility! :):):)
I also LOVE to use Melmac, and Fire King, and can be caught many days on Ebay looking for more!
I also have a HOUSE built in 1955 - 3 1/2 hours AWAY, that I'm probably going to go BROKE repairing.. but... It' so cooooooooooool.. (contemporary). It has a glass 'wall' w/indoor outdoor flowerbeds!! And it's on 'two levels'. AND.. my 'baby' -17 now -was born IN the house. (ooh.. another 'hipppie/boomer' thing to do!! Use a midwife!)
Oh, yeah...I'm guilty, too! I drive a Jeep and blast the radio quite often!!!! Live in a 1955 Split Level...now known as a multi-level...whatever!!! We have lived in it for 30 years and absolutely would not trade it for any of the new houses around! And yes, since my husband is a contractor, we've not exactly gone broke remodeling the house, but are always updating something to keep it looking like the true Split Level it is!!!!
We don't use Melmac...a word I hadn't thought about in a looong time! But do use Fiesta Ware! And also try to find every piece I can! Love it!!!
Hi Cherterr, Yes, I'm guilty too of blaring my music at home when my hubby's at work. I love to work outside in my garden so I crank up the stereo loud enough to hear outside. I still have a "quadraflex" system although 2 of the 4 speakers died years ago. I like the Moody Blues, Sonny and Cher, some of Elvis's stuff and the Beatles and Rod Stewart, Pink Floyd, and also some of the newer stuff too like Enegima. I'll sing, if you can call it that, in the privacy of my truck with the window rolled up. I've got a voice that would make a frog proud so I dont like to inflict my "voice" on other people but its fun and who cares anyway. My hubby always accuses me of being deaf, and I probably am to some degree but who cares! Life as they say isnt a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved pretty body but to be lived in and skid in sideways totally worn out and yelling "What a ride". I also lived in a lot of "tract homes" and my dad built a lot of them back in the very early 50's in California. At the time, they were "so modern" with every convenience. I always loved the openness of them and all the windows had a handle crank. Today I live in a double wide mobile home and I love it. Mobile homes are much more affordable than "real homes" and what the heck, life is temporary anyway. I kid my children using a thought from a movie, "Sweet Home Alabama, lets go back to my double wide and fry something". They think I'm nuts and "poor mom has lost it" as my son says. My daughter just shakes her head with that "all knowing look" that the younger generation gives us boomers. I sometimes wonder if kids these days know how to live and really enjoy life like we did back in the "stone ages". I still have some melmac too from the early 60's bought with green stamps, remember those? I got into the hippy craze too back in the 60's but since I was busy raising my kids, I just dressed the style, bell bottoms, nehru shirts, beads, and to this day, I still wear the original Anne Kelso earth shoes with the negavive heel. Some old stuff is still good and I have to chuckle to see those styles making a comeback as "retro" clothing. I never could get into the hippy peace craze though, the war in Viet Nam was too personal for me with my high school friends getting drafted and going over there. I thought it was important to win over there just as I think its important to win and help the Iraqi's win their independance and freedom today. Some things never change, war never does and our way of life never will; I hope and pray for our kids and grandkids sake that freedom and liberty will always prevail. Its still a wonderful world, despite all the flaws. Rock on!
I also occasionally blare my music... My son who passed loved Pink Floyd just like his mama... Used to go to sleep to it and wake up to it... I was a hippie/biker guess I still am but was definitely not against our soldiers now the Government well they really pissed me off... I have the privilege of living in a studio apartment that used to be a Resort back then called the Waldorf in Desert Hot Springs... In fact my son-in-law learned to swim in our pool (it used to be deeper and had a diving board)... They finally opened the spa but it is currently not heated so how can it be a spa... Enough of that, I choose to be grateful and happy... Think I'll get to painting...
