Try These Great Movies for YOUR Health

I saw a news show advertising a new documentary "King Corn" about the corn epidemic in our food supply. I plan to watch it and see how it is. I know this corn is a big problem in our country. A few movies that I do recommend that you watch are: Super Size Me - Morgan Sperlock Great documentary style movie about McDonald's and our fast food industry. He does a 30 day experiement of eating only McDonald's food under a doctor's supervision. What happens to his body is incredible. He also explores… Continue

There's no "food" in my pantry, what's in yours?

I think the biggest thing I noticed (along with a friend with the same mindset) when I started to change my style of eating and do all my shopping in the produce aisle is the fact that there is no "food" in my pantry. My friend's pantry is full of "food". Cans and boxes and jars and of cereal and peanut butter and boxed meals and canned soup and food bars and such. It's not food, but "food". My pantry has in it, several bags of loose tea, organic pastry flour, organic raw sugar, brown rice, oli… Continue

I Tested my pH Level

I have been wanting to do this for awhile and finally got around to buying the pH paper from the store last week. Ideally we want to fall between 6.5-7.5 on the alkaline scale and I was 7.5!! Wow, I was hoping the last 3 years of healthy eating made a difference but didn't expect it to be that good. I guess you really have to keep a journal of testing results at different days and times to get a good result, and they also recommend a acid food binge for 2 days and then testing to see how well y… Continue

Dark Circles Under My Eyes

I have been eating a pretty healthy diet going on 3 years now. I have greatly improved my overall health and immune system and keep working every day to make it just a little better. One thing that I am still struggling with is the "bags" under my eyes. I look around and the more I pay attention, the majority of the population is walking around with this baggage, it makes us look unhealthy. I am 40 now and it makes me look old!! I have read alot and it I need to keep up-ing my exercise, I have… Continue

Depression and Anxiety - How I cured myself

Someone commented on another blog about have RLS in the 70's and "back then" they didn't know what it was. Looking back, I suffered from pretty severe depression in high school in the early 80's. Depression was not a mainstream "disease" and there were no Rx ads on TV and Prozac and awareness were not around. I suffered with uncontrollable crying spells and other emotional issues my parents (and myself) didn't understand. In my late 20s, early 30s, I found a psychiatrist and prozac when I nearl… Continue

Enlightened or Educated about Health and Nutrition

I am by far not an expert or licensed in any way but I have spent 3 years studying various sources of health and nutrition and have made significant changes in my health with just lifestyle and dietary changes. Simple things such as avoiding pop, sugar and processed or boxed foods. Avoiding all fast food. Restricting restaurant food to a minimum. Adding fish oil, probiotics, and tons of fruits and veggies to my diet along with good fiber has changed my life significantly. Sometimes I feel like… Continue

Restless Leg Syndrome

The first time I saw a commercial for this "disease" my first reaction was instead of taking pill you should get up and take a walk because your body is trying to tell you something! My mother and I laughed at the thought of this "disease" and the fact that they are marketing a drug for it. This has got to be, by far, a huge stretch even on the part of big pharma. We are took quick to pop a pill for even the slightest discomfort, instead of trying to find out WHY it is happening. Continue
