I've been asked this question so many times over the past 12-months, that it has long since lost any shock or surprise for me.
"Those who cast the votes decide nothing.
Those who count the votes decide everything."
—COMMUNIST TYRANT AND MASS MURDERER JOSEF STALIN
Now, this isn't to say that we shouldn't vote, for we absolutely MUST. However, it DOES mean that as voters we need to be cognizant and conscientious of the system in which we are participating.
First off, let me state emphatically that I NEVER thought I’d see the day where I would vote Republican. Given the track record of the GOP over the last 50-years, and even more recently within the latest span of 20 post-Reagan years, to say I was disenchanted with the party would be a gross understatement.
Therefore, it is with great surprise, yet also with great pride that I actually find myself not only open to voting for, but actively endorsing and campaigning for a Republican Presidential candidate. That candidate is Dr. Ron Paul.
Ron Paul was the most successful fundraiser among the Republican presidential candidates in the last three months of 2007. Paul brought in $19.7 million—compared to $9.9 million for Mitt Romney, $6.8 million for John McCain, and $6.6 million for Mike Huckabee.
By framing some of the HOTBED political topics within their historical context, I will illustrate why Dr. Paul is the right person for the job.
THE CONSTITUTION:
This is the framework; the backbone; the very foundation of our country. Without this document, we are ensured NO LEVEL of rights, privileges, or freedoms. Our founding forefathers knew this well, having only recently emancipated themselves (via the Declaration of Independence in 1776) from the tyrannical rule of Great Britain’s King George III.
Ron Paul believes wholeheartedly in our Constitution. If it’s not in there, he votes NO against it. So much so that he has earned the nickname Dr. No on Capitol Hill. He is the ultimate champion of liberty and freedom, as set forth in our grand document.
The Constitution establishes those Rights (as in the Bill Of) to which every U.S. citizen is guaranteed as being inalienable. Yet, since it’s drafting in 1787 and subsequent ratification in 1789 how many times has the Federal Government trampled on its premises? The right to free speech; to bear arms; freedom of religion; warranted search & seizure; speedy & public trial; bail bond; etc. These are the grounding tenets by which we allegedly live, yet the government’s fervently brazen and blatant disregard for its core values continues unabated and unchecked.
If Thomas Jefferson were alive today and invited to participate in a presidential debate, what he would say? Would he support the infringement of our liberties by our government in support of a War on Terror? Would he condone the existence of the Federal Reserve Bank and the massive inflation and debt it has placed upon the shoulders of the American people? Would he remind us of the words he wrote prior to outlining the abuses perpetrated upon the colonies by the British Crown? We’ve all heard the words democracy and freedom used countless times, especially in the context of our invasion of Iraq. They are used interchangeably in modern political discourse, yet their true meanings are very different.
George Orwell wrote about “meaningless words” that are endlessly repeated in the political arena. Words like “freedom,” “democracy,” and “justice,” Orwell explained, have been abused so long that their original meanings have been eviscerated. In Orwell’s view, political words were “Often used in a consciously dishonest way.” Without precise meanings behind words, politicians and elites can obscure reality and condition people to reflexively associate certain words with positive or negative perceptions. In other words, unpleasant facts can be hidden behind purposely meaningless language. As a result, Americans have been conditioned to accept the word “democracy” as a synonym for freedom, and thus to believe that democracy is unquestionably good. The problem is that democracy is not freedom. Democracy is simply Majoritarianism, which is inherently incompatible with real freedom. Our founding fathers clearly understood this, as evidenced not only by our republican constitutional system, but also by their writings in the Federalist Papers and elsewhere. Yet how many Americans know that the word “democracy” is found neither in the Constitution nor the Declaration of Independence, our very founding documents?
I prefer to look at it this way:
This country is a constitutional republic not a democracy.
The difference being that in a republic, people have inalienable rights that cannot be voted away by a majority of voters.
Unlike a pure democracy, in a constitutional republic, citizens are not governed by the majority of the people, but by the rule of law. Constitutional Republics are a deliberate attempt to diminish the threat of mobocracy thereby protecting dissenting individuals and minority groups from the tyranny of the majority by placing checks on the power of the majority of the population.
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner.
In A Constitutional Republic: Voting on dinner is expressly forbidden, and the sheep are armed.
Folks - our Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, is there for a reason. It is not some document to be taken for granted. We cannot allow our government to trample all over it. After all, if it that document had never been written the government would have absolutely no power and authority in the first place. If we allow them to pick and choose which portions of the Constitution they wish to heed we may as well just forget about being a free people and accept that we are servants to our government, the exact opposite of what our founders envisioned.
The Second Amendment grants citizens the right to bear arms. Now remember, Hitler enacted Gun Control, Stalin enacted Gun Control, Castro enacted Gun Control. Contrary to what Michael Moore would have us believe, Gun Control is NOT the answer to Columbine.
THE PATRIOT ACT:
It was 8 years between the first terrorist attack upon the World Trade Center, and the 9/11 attacks. In that time frame we had no Patriot Act, no Military Commissions Act, No Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act. Who is to say that any of these Acts passed by the Bush administration has done anything to make us any safer? Our ports and borders are still not secured. How can we say that we are not just as vulnerable now to a terrorist attack as we were before they were passed? We can’t, that is the problem. The only thing we can say is that in the course of fighting this War on Terror, we have given up liberties that our founders thought were so important that they wrote specific amendments to the Constitution to ensure that they never be infringed upon. If you don’t believe me, continue reading and then judge for yourself. I only ask you to do so with an open mind. Set aside your party loyalties, your ideas of patriotism, and just examine the facts. Remember that the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land, and that no law can be written which violates any portion of the Constitution. Compare what the legislation says and how it goes against what the Bill of Rights says. The end does not justify the means. So after reading what I have to say, you tell me, who is our real enemy, Al-Qaeda or our own government.
Yet it wasn’t until 9/11 that a full-scale assault upon our freedoms and liberties was initiated by our government, under the guise of fighting a War on Terror.
The first Act signed into law after the attacks of 9/11 was, House Resolution 3162, otherwise known as the Patriot Act. I wonder how many people realize that the Patriot Act was signed into law before a copy was even available for Congress to discuss and amend? Not that our legislators read every bill they pass, but something of this magnitude should have been read before it was passed into law.
In sections 202 & 216 of the Patriot Act, the government now has the authority to monitor your Internet traffic, read your e-mails and intercept all your cell phone calls, if they suspect that you are committing a crime. No warrant is required. This violates the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution in that no warrant was ever issued for the gathering of personal information. You may have heard of this practice by the phrase warrantless searches. Whatever you know it as, it is illegal and a violation of your rights as guaranteed in the fourth amendment.
From the text of the Patriot Act, Section 216, “Upon an application made under section 3122(a)(1), the court shall enter an ex parte order authorizing the installation and use of a pen register or trap and trace device anywhere within the United States, if the court finds that the attorney for the Government has certified to the court that the information likely to be obtained by such installation and use is relevant to an ongoing criminal investigation.”
An ex parte order is a Latin legal term which means, "from (by or for) one party”. An ex parte order is decided by a judge without requiring all of the parties to the controversy to be present. In other words, it is a legal proceeding brought by one party against another without representation or notification of the other parties.
Section 213 of the Patriot Act also violates the fourth amendment, in that it allows our government to pursue investigations and searches without the use of a warrant.
Finally, in Section 802 of the Patriot Act, the term domestic terrorist is redefined in a manner that could include anyone who disagrees with the actions of our government and actively tries to change the course this nation has taken, myself included.
THE ECONOMY:
“Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes her laws” ~ Mayer Amschel Rothschild
Ron Paul is the closest thing our country has to a living founding father. He more clearly than all the other candidates understands, and legislates, strictly according to the Constitution. He understands more thoroughly the economic problems our country faces.
Our country's currency used to be backed by gold. As long as there was gold backing the paper we could only print a finite amount of paper money because there was only a finite amount of gold with which to back it. Since our government removed our currency from the gold standard we have given the banks, particularly the Federal Reserve Bank, the ability to print money at their whim that has no backing whatsoever. While all paper currencies by their very nature are fiat-currencies, that is they are merely paper currencies backed solely by the authority of the government, when you begin printing more and more paper that is backed by the promise of the government, you end up with inflation, as per the dictionary’s very definition itself.
Let’s clarify something right off the bat. The FED is NOT a branch of the Federal Government. In actuality, the FED is a privately owned, for profit bank, that controls our government and economy. They control the money supply, inflation, depression, recessions, etc. They are not accountable to Congress, the executive branch or anyone in government. The Fed is owned by the TEN largest banks in the world. It is a wholly private entity. NOT ONE CENT of our Income Taxes goes to pay for what the majority of Americans believe it does. Income Tax revenue goes to one place, and one place only…to pay the interest on the National Debt owed to the FED…PERIOD. It doesn’t go to build or repair roads; to provide emergency relief during disasters; or to improve the way of life of anyone in America (except perhaps for the actual owners of the FED).
Only a return to hard currency (such as the Gold Standard) and sound monetary policy will prevent America from continuing down its current path of fiscal destruction.
TAXES:
It is fast approaching tax time again so it is timely that I make you aware of something. Every cent you pay in taxes does not go towards the funding of the day-to-day operation of your federal government. It only goes towards paying the interest on the money they have already borrowed to run, and even then it is not enough to make the interest payments, so they have to borrow more to make up the difference plus finance their daily operations. If the federal government were a business the CEO would have been fired by the board of directors and the stockholders would have divested themselves of all their holdings in that company a long time ago.
Simultaneously, those whom WE have elected to sit in office, to manage OUR cities, OUR states and OUR national governments have done a miserable job of managing OUR money, and it is OUR money taken from us in the form of taxes. People seem to forget that, they think it is just the government’s money, and it isn’t. Did they go out and work their butts off to earn it? Did they sweat, bleed and come home with aching backs and blistered hands for it? I don’t think so. So the next time you hear your elected official talk about how much they need to raise taxes, or spend tax dollars on some idiotic project, remember one thing, it is YOUR money they are talking about spending!
SOCIAL SECURITY:
Unfortunately I am not done. There are an estimated 75 million baby boomers in this country that are preparing to retire. Twenty-nine percent of the United States, over one in four Americans are baby boomers. They will begin to collect Social Security benefits, or will they?
While there are currently no plans to reduce or eliminate Social Security payments to those entitled them, the Social Security Administration itself has stated that if you are 35 years of age right now that, “Unless changes are made, at age 69 in 2040 your scheduled benefits could be reduced by 26 percent and could continue to be reduced every year thereafter from presently scheduled levels.” I would recommend that everyone read the Q and A page the Social Security Administration has put up at:
The gist of Dr. Paul’s message here is: “Peace and commerce and friendship with all nations. Entangling alliances with none”. The bottom line here is that an Act of War requires a declaration from Congress. This never happened. President Bush blatantly exceeded his own Executive authority when he superceded Congress and its duties in this area. What this ultimately means is that the war in Iraq is unconstitutional. Most of us learn early on in Civics classes that if something is unconstitutional, it is also illegal. The war in Iraq is illegal (not to mention grossly immoral)…period. W’s justifications for going to war in Iraq were disgustingly crafted to mislead the American people. We invaded Iraq for 2 plain & simple reasons: 1)To consolidate BigOil’s interests and 2)Establish military bases from which future excursions and actions could be perpetrated (China as the new Big Bad, anyone?). There were no Weapons of Mass Destruction (more like Mass Deception), Iraq had no viable ties to Al-Quaeda or the terrorists allegedly responsible for the events of 9/11. Saddam was a puppet dictator supported and installed by the CIA, and had quite frankly outgrown his usefulness. Iraq doesn’t want us in their country anymore than most Americans want us to be there.
At this very moment this country is saddled with a $9 trillion national debt, that is a 9 with twelve zeroes after it! So far this war has cost the taxpayers $487 billion. As an example, for fiscal year 2007 the war cost the taxpayers of California $17.4 billion. For that much money California could have provided 7 million people with health care, or provided 31 million homes with renewable electricity, or hired 324,295 Public Safety Officers, or provided scholarship funds for 2.6 million of our children, or built 1,322 new elementary schools, or hired 262,958 new elementary school teachers, or...oh well, you get the picture. That was for last year alone. Do the math if this war continues for who knows how long. This country cannot afford to continue to fund this war and remain solvent.
THE WAR ON DRUGS:
We have promoted a foolish and very expensive domestic war on drugs for more than 30 years. It has done no good whatsoever. In the past 30 years, even with the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on the drug war, little good has come of it. We have vacillated from efforts to stop the drugs at the source to severely punishing the users, yet nothing has improved. This war has been behind most big government policy powers of the last 30 years, with continual undermining of our civil liberties and personal privacy.
THE MEDIA:
25 years ago in 1983, there were 50 corporations that controlled U.S. Media. Now there are merely SIX.
To find out who now owns the Media (in every sense), go here:
A recent National Taxpayers Union study finds that, of the Republican candidates left in the presidential race, Paul is the only one whose proposals amount to an overall federal spending cut (of $150 billion). This position is not popular with the liberal media.
The Fox News Channel unfairly excluded Dr. Paul from its January 6 debate, while MSNBC and CNN tried to keep him from speaking for any significant length of time during their January 24 and January 30 debates. This is a candidate, we must recall, who placed second in the Republican Nevada caucuses on January 19, and second again in Maine this past weekend, beating heavily favored “frontrunner” John McCain in both instances.
It all goes to show that these “debates” are media productions that have little to do with an actual examination of differences between the candidates. In effect, the media are trying to pick the candidates and narrow down the race. While few people, relatively speaking, actually watch the debates on the cable channels, the exchanges which are manufactured by the nature of the questions that are addressed to certain candidates get picked up by many other media outlets, leading to a public perception that the “frontrunners” being quoted are the only “serious” ones left in the race.
SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS:
Special Interest groups lobby Capitol Hill day in and day out for our “elected” officials to represent THEIR interests, not ours. It’s all about the money for these folks. Money = POWER. Congress is no longer about representing the will of the people. That will has been subrogated to that of the almighty Corporation. Special interests have a stranglehold on our elected representatives. Dr. Paul is often heard to mention the socio-ethnic and corporate special interest groups that are pushing forward numerous agendas and attempting to pass certain pieces of legislation.
The most "special" of the Special Interest groups include:
Can you honestly tell me that NONE of these groups have a highly vested interest in the decisions that our politicians make on a daily basis? Can you honestly state that these groups are not willing to reach DEEP into their pockets to ensure the proliferation of their agendas?
Patrick Henry stated that it is natural for man to indulge in the illusion of hope. That is what America is doing every time we select a new candidate for president, indulging in the illusion of hope. When we have a candidate like Ron Paul, a candidate who tells us plainly what ails this country, and he is ignored, ridiculed and shunned by the media and the people, we are only indulging in the illusion that things are going to get any better. We truly are in a battle to save this country from those who would see it destroyed. And as Patrick Henry said later in his speech, “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” When Americans realize that we are once again facing the same threat posed to us by our own government, funded and influenced by special interest groups, maybe enough people will rise to the call to save our nation once again. Until the people of this country realize that each candidate is bought and paid for by those special interests, no matter how much talk of change our presidential candidates speak of, nothing is going to change, it is all an illusion designed to keep us thinking we have a say in our future.
With the current political campaign for president in full swing, we have the Republicans who all, except for Ron Paul, favor a continuance of the War in Iraq that is an open sewer upon which our government is borrowing us into insolvency to fund. We also have the Democrats with their talk of Universal Health Care. This would create another huge bureaucracy on the scale of Social Security or Homeland Security, (notice the term security in both those organizations), which would mean higher taxes and more government involvement in our health care decisions. Anyone who thinks this is such a great idea needs to watch this video on You Tube,
If you honestly want to know who is really pulling the strings of our politicians (The man behind the curtain) to control our country, then open your eyes and cast off the veil that has been forced upon you for so long. My money is on the fact that you never hear mention of people like the Bilderbergers, the Trilateral Commission, the Rockefellers and the many other corporate and global interests that are planning and managing the demise of America. Look them up and make up your own mind.
I personally challenge you to also read up on the following items, and draw your own conclusions:
Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)
New World Order (NWO)
North American Union
NAFTA
CAFTA
Look for yourself and see just who is listed as a member of the CFR:
Unfortunately, the American people have forgotten the basic premise upon which governments are founded. That reason is clearly stated in the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson stated that “mankind is more disposed to suffer while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.” How many more abuses, how much more suffering are we Americans going to have to accept before we realize that our government no longer represents us?
Our country is in desperate need of people to wake up and realize that our nation is in grave danger. Unfortunately there are far too few Americans who would be willing to state, as did Nathan Hale as he was to be hung, "I regret that I have but one life to lose for my country."
Folks our Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, is there for a reason.
No other presidential candidate can claim the following record:
Dr. Paul...
has never voted to raise taxes.
has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
has never voted to raise congressional pay.
has never taken a government-paid junket.
has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
voted against the Patriot Act.
voted against regulating the Internet.
voted against the Iraq war.
does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. supported Ronald Reagan against Gerald Ford in 1976.
So, if you're a Republican that is registered as such in your Precinct. PLEASE show your support for the ONLY candidate capable of salvaging our country from the brink of ruin and reinstating the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land by attending your local Caucus tonight and voting to such effect.
