This petition was initiated by author John Erb (The Slow Poisoning of America). He has dedicated so much of his time and resources to make a dent in this uphill battle against toxic food additives. He has spoken with the director of food safety for the World Health Organization, but was told that the multinationals were much too powerful and would block any action. (Large global food corporations)
His report, which included the link between MSG in foods and vaccines triggering Autism, earned him the opportunity to speak before the Canadian team of ten senators. From there, he got the report into the hands of Dr. Laura Tarantino, Director of Food Safety at the FDA. Eventually it reached FDA Commissioner Dr. Van Eschenburg, who encouraged Mr. Erb to petition the FDA to remove MSG from the food supply. It got on the docket on Dec. 28, 2007.
In May 2008, John reported before the Interagency Autism Committee and met both the director of the National Institute of Health and the Director of The National Institute of Mental Health (Recent studies are linking glutamate (as in MSG) to neurological disorders, Autism, ADD, depression, MS, ALS, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and more.)
