I went to school. I have a relatively solid background in physical sciences. And I totally believe and know that everything around us has electromagnetic energy. So yes, it makes total sense to me that the microwave oven completely messes with the energy and changes it in ways we can't necessarily comprehend with our garden variety kitchen utensils. So Shannon and I have decided to try to slowly phase out our microwave. Granted, I'm not getting rid of it, as sometimes we just don't have other options if time is of the essence, but part of what we're working on trying to do is make sure that time doesn't have to be of the essence so we can heat and eat our food in better peace and harmony with our bodies.

Gotta tell ya though, I'm having a rough time giving up the microwave. The biggest challenge I find myself facing is eating at work. I'll cook a great meal the night before, pack up some of the leftovers for a nice healthy lunch at work the next day, and my only option at work is the dreaded white beast. People already think I'm crazy for carrying around my half gallon jug of filtered water and my organic oat and flax seed bars, they'd think I'd gone over the edge if I started toting a toaster oven into work! :)

So now the challenge is to find cold meals to eat at work.

I'm excited about the changes we're making in our lives, and try to embrace these things knowing that its for the best of our lives and for our son to have parents around for a long time (and for him to be, too!), but I can't help but have microwave withdrawls.

Tell me the pain gets easier, please?

My struggle got a little easier today...I went out and bought a really nice, oversize stainless steel convection/toaster oven that also has a rotisserie in it, so we can now cook just about anything on the countertop without having to heat up the whole stove for just the small meals. I'm going to talk to my store manager to see if she'll let me donate my smaller, older toaster oven this one is replacing to the lunch room, and then I'll have another option for heating up food at work, at least if nothing else for warming bread for sandwiches or something.

Good idea with the premade salads. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the tips!
