I've always been a very strong believer that things don't happen just to happen...there's always a reason to why things happen, and as painful as something might be to go through while it occurs, I've always felt that something better would always be a little further down the road. I think I've found my something better.

For years, I've toyed with the idea of going to naturopathic medicine school, but at the time, we were living over 60 miles one way to get to the school, so I let the idea go. About 2 years ago, we ended up losing that house after I was the victim of a car accident that injured me and caused my business I owned to go under, which was a very bad point in my life. But going through my recovery, I met some people...a great chiropractor, and a physical therapist, and a massage therapist, and they helped me far more than someone just giving me medicine. Many things changed in my life during these last 2 years, including finding a great job, getting promoted into management, and now being poised for an even bigger promotion into upper management. But I find myself empty, unfulfilled, and burnt out on my job.

One thing did change, though. When we lost the house, we moved considerably further away, now very close to the naturopathic school that used to be too far to attend. That hit me today. I was talking to a coworker, telling her about all the things I've been learning, the research I've been doing, the changes we've made in our lives, and the horrors that go on in the general medical field nowadays. She had mentioned how she would only to an ND, and that a few years ago, when her regular doctor had given up hope on some serious medical conditions she was diagnosed with, an ND had saved her life and got her healthy again. The spark rekindled in me that instant. That's my passion. Not selling people glasses, or even managing other employees...I was put here to heal, plain and simple.

So today begins my quest towards getting into naturopathic school. Its a long quest, and Shannon has said she'll support me on the way...I've still got several prereq's I'll have to get through, and still a little more to go to get my bachelor's degree first, and then there's the admissions process and application and interview...its a little overwhelming, actually. But I haven't been this passionate about something in a long time, and truly feel like that is where I need to be.

I found another option, too. Its at http://www.canyoncollege.edu/sch~naturopathy.htm and offers a totally online (except for internship with someone local for 150 hours), nationally accredited ND degree. Looks very promising, but I don't know if they offer financial aid options, and each class costs at least $550, and there's 25 classes, so it adds up quickly! I requested a packet from them, though, so hopefully some of these answers will be in there.

LOL...I think you meant www.cnhp.org! :) The .com takes you to a program where nurses that are substance abusers can get counseling. Thanks for the info, I'll have to check that out (the .org one anyway)
