HORRIBLE WEIGHT GAIN!! P3R1 DAY 20 124.2#S UP 5#S FROM LIW

So as you all can see in my title I'm having a horrid time with keeping around my LIW. I do need to let you all know a couple of things first so you can get the big picture of what's going on with me...
First, starting from day 1 of this phase 3 I have cheated with sugars and starches every day (or night). Actually, the second thing I wanted to tell you all is that although I may eat well during the day, I do suffer from eating throughout the night, which is when i eat the sugars and/or starches. All that being said, it's easy to see at least a couple reasons why my weight has fluctuated for the past 3 weeks.

I've done steak/modified steak days almost every other day to compensate my gains from the way i've been eating and so far it's kept me around 1 1/2 to 3 #s over my LIW, which i haven't been too upset about.
Along with the weight, I haven't started a period for awhile. I finished my last one around September 14, which puts me at around 40 days or so since. Every day or every other day I suffer from any combo of bloating, cramps, and breast tenderness, but still no TOM.

Yesterday, I did yet another steak day, got home from work around 1230 am, ate some nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts, etc), along with a couple spoonfuls of cashew and almond butter. I went straight to bed, didn't really fall asleep, and instead started right in on going to the kitchen to eat more cashew/almond butter. Needless to say, I finished both containers (neither were full, but total about 1 1/4 cups worth) over 3 or 4 trips to the kitchen.
FYI..every time I do a steak day, I still end up getting up through the night and eat like crazy, but i still will have some kind of loss, regardless. So the fact that i ate just the nut butter is actually really good!

Well, to my horror, not only did I not lose an ounce, but i GAINED 2 more pounds, which has now put me at 5 pounds over. And I've felt physically crappy/weird all day...
After nearly falling off the scale from shock, I took my son to school and instead of going on my normal morning walk, I ended up having to drive back home and go back to sleep for about 2 1/2 hours. When i got up, I put on a pair of jeans, did some housework, then got ready for work...when i went to put those same jeans back on, they would not fit! I had ballooned with more weight/water in just a few hours!!!

Needless to say, because I'm so high over my LIW, i was going to do another steak day today, but because I'm so bloated, crampy, etc, I have not been hungry at all. So around 3 i nibbled on a couple bites of cheese, steak, and had 1 hardboiled egg. I brought some steak with me to work, but I have no appetite at all.

It's the worst feeling in the world to gain so much and not be able to fit into the clothes that just yesterday were loose on me. Any suggestions from anyone?

hi,i was browsing the site blogs looking for answer to my problem and bam! i found that u had the same problem and looks like u fixed it!! how tell me how plzzzzz....my night cravings r killing me and my will power is so low cuz i dont need to lose much 25 p to perfect so i kinda slacking it..and its gets borrring after a while..and i dont have problems in the day..but tic toc midnight comes and the craving monster comes along :( and gone with it all my morning dieting in secs i taste a little bit of chocolates then a spoon of cream cheese and i ruin everything..............im on my day 13 now and i only lost 5 p cuz im cheating alot...what did u do to make u stop eating at night? u r the only one in this site that have the same problem as me.

If you are eating things because you are craving them, you should try the Callahan technique mentioned in KT's book. That might help. Another thing is that you need to work on your attitude about food--it is to feed your body, not your psyche! All that extra eating at night is not healthy, so I have to wonder if your mind is trying to sabotage your success. Consider whether or not you REALLY want to lose it! Make a list of all the benefits of taking off the weight and read them several times a day. Then visualize yourself there at that ideal weight.

The next thing I would encourage you to do is go back to the beginning and try to go for a day or two without cheating. The more you cheat, the more your mind thinks it is ok. You know this is really just a mind game!!!

Finally, if you are continuing to gain, it could be because you are allergic to something you are eating. Nuts are notorious for being allergens, so if you could find something else to snack on that was nut-free and see if that makes a difference you might be able to determine if your body is intolerant or allergic to them and that is causing you to gain.

Remind yourself of what a challenge the loss was in the first place, and talk yourself "down from the ledge" of suicidal eating! YOU CAN DO THIS and YOU CAN BE SUCCESSFUL!!!
