Yup. That's right. I'm one of those socially leperous individuals who still smoke. My nutritionist gave me the date of Sept 3rd (Labor Day) to be an ex-smoker, as my smoking is hindering my progress to becoming more alkaline. I'm feeling like she's right. I'm hitting a plateau and I have to get over this hump.
When I have quit in the past, I would go cold-turkey and be laid out for three days on the couch. Then be a grumpy b*stard for a few weeks. There MUST be an easier way! One that doesn't involve nicotine patches, gums or drugs.
Ex-smokers: What did you do to quit? Any nutrients or tips you would suggest to make the transition to non-smoker any easier?
The reason that I quit so easily was because it just didn't make sense for me to smoke anymore. I was spending all this money on organic food and other things to take care of my body that I would get so angry at myself for inhaling smoke. I literally hated myself every time I lit a cigarette! Something in my brain just turned on (or off). Until you experience that moment, it won't be easy to quit.
This is where I am working to be. When it just STINKS!!!!!! Did you do any cleanse before you tried to quit??? Is that something you think would assist???? Let me know what your process was??? I am new to this train of thought, just gave up diet drinks 10 days ago and drinking water like mad. Switched to organics for face mosturizer and eating more organic chicken and veggies, so I am a "newbe". I will be 46 in a couple of days and I want at least 46 more.
I'm not sure if someone posted this, cause did not read the replies, but My father quit by buying pretzel rods. Lot's of times the smoker is not addicted necessarily to the smoking, but rather by the act of smoking. By having a pretzel rod in his had, my dad acted like it was a cigerette, held it like a cigerette, and that is what made him kick the habit.
If you try it let me know if it works. Unfortunatley he went back only because his best friend at work smokes and he was around that person everyday. He should have stayed away from that person whenever his friend wanted to smoke. oh well. lol
Also one thing i've learned from my husband is that sometimes I feel like he does not want to stop, because believe it or not some people just enjoy the act of smoking. I think you have to have the will as well to stop. That is number 1.
I think I'm gonna hafta try the pretzel rods.I'm having SUCH a hard time.I'll light it and put it out.It stinks and it tastes awful.I have run around the house with one,UNLIT,in my mouth. As long as it ain't lit,I guess that's a good thing. Thanks for the tip. Blessings,Sherry
Have you done a candida cleanse? I don't know if it was a fluke thing or maybe just mental, but after I did a candida cleanse (I used Three Lac) I had NO desire to smoke whatsoever, on top of getting rid of my sugar cravings. It's worth a try and you have nothing to lose since it's good for your health anyway!
The warning that went out about the Chantix was NOT to mix it with ALCHOHOL.It could cause psychotic episodes, extreme paranoia , which in turn could make one suicidal. A fella fromEdie Brickell's band was on it,drank and got into it with a neighbor, who feared for his life-SO-he shot him.Dead. It has helped me alot and Im also taking Probiotic acidophulus,Vit D,drinking O-juice,Using Flaxseed and I'm not sure right now what else.
The weather is kicking my FIBRO-COPD a@#.Hot-cold-hot-colder-wet-coldreally-wet-reallly,really cold! I am getting cabin fever, along with the pain! AHHH I'm Aight! I'm just bitchin' cuz it lets me know I still CAN! LOL SHERRY

I just stopped! I did not use other drugs to quit smoking I just told myself that I was done and I wanted to give my children an example of will power and what you can accomplish if you have the will to want to do something.
I also started reading a lot more than I ever had before. Now I have a reading addiction LOL
Good luck and just make sure it's your time to give it up. Do it for you and not for anyone else, otherwise it doesn't work.
It certainly was not for me and I really do not recommend for anyone. I am doing a rapid full body cleanse now and working to smoke no more than 1 per hour. i am making process but it is slow. i have realized with past succes in changing patterns (ie losing 30 lbs, flossing my teeth every day) that I really have to work at my own pace and with just willpower.
