I know the natural cures book does not recommend them, but my husband is not ready to give them up yet. Does anyone have a good egg protein one that they can recommend? I am not very familiar with the shakes.
Thanks

There is no egg protein available yet that uses organic, free range eggs. If you are interested in a good link to raw, organic whey protein, send me a message. I have personally been researching whey proteins for almost 20 years, what an interesting subject! Perhaps in the future I will write about whey if there is a group of people interested in knowing the real whey story, and what I have learned so far.

Well I wanna know the story!

I've been using the best whey protein (I can find locally) in my protein shakes. I don't recall KT not advising protein shakes tho.

TIM?? "Editor in Chief" of Natural Cures ... why argue?

??

To "Editor in Chief", I said, "I wanna know the story." (sounds like it could be interesting)

To Melissa's statement, "I know the natural cures book does not recommend them", I said, "I don't recall KT not advising protein shakes tho." And I don't. If anyone knows the reference, I would love to see it.

Perhaps I should indicate to whom I'm speaking, Marilyn?

Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About, Chapter 6, on page 155, it says" Do not eat diet or protein shakes."

This is because most of them are full of garbage. But in the More Natural Cures Revealed book, he gives some recommendations for healthier protein shakes:

Raw, organic non pre-digested Whey Protein from www.livingnutritionals.com
Prosera Whey Protein Whey Healthier from www.mercola.com
Thunder from www.forevergreen.org
Almased 1-800-256-2733

I personally avoid all protein shakes, but I too would be interested in hearing what you have learned Chakra.

Dot:

Thank you for this. It's been a year since reading the first book; perhaps it's time to go through it again!

Agreed on KT's viewpoint that most proteins are loaded with garbage, particularly those found in pharmacies, grocery stores and places like GNC (and I believe that's what he's talking about). I trust health food stores to a point. The bottom line is that *I* am the one that makes the final decision on what I digest.

Our health food store has an aisle (both sides!) stocked with various brands of protein. I studied them all very carefully before making my final selection: Solgar's Whey-to-Go, which is the best-quality whey protein I could find. Although not organic, it is ionized, partially pre-digested, microfiltered and processed at low heat. I will investigate the referenced proteins, as I am always looking for something better.

I make my own protein shakes, which includes raw goat milk, coconut oil, red palm oil, almond butter, tahini and a banana (all organic) and they are an important part of my daily regimen as I am ultimately working on gaining weight and building muscle. Last year, I lost all the weight I can afford to lose--I started to go underweight--and I've been working on rebuilding the weight the right way.

I've had a morning shake every day for the past 10 months. I can't imagine not having my daily shake! :)

I like the idea of your homemade protein shake. That sounds good. :)

I would love to hear the whey story too.

I too use Spirulina as my main "supplemental" protein source. It is far superior from a bio-availability standpoint, meaning that your body will actually be able to use more of it than ANY animal-derived protein sources.

We don't need NEARLY as much protein as we've been indoctrinated into believing we do. Your husband's not doing himself any favors by continuing to load up on animal-based, processed, refined protein powders.

Believe me, I was a meat & potatoes man for the majority of my life, and drank protein shakes for over half my life. The alleged benefits of consuming MASSIVE quantities of animal-based proteins just aren't there.

As far as I'm concerned, Whey still comes from dairy, in fact it originated as a commercial by-product of dairy & cheese production. If it's dairy, it gets a BIG THUMBS DOWN in my book. You can talk all you want about "ion-exchange" and "ultra-filtration" processes, but at the end of the day, the stuff still came out of a cow, which still makes it just as unnatural (and unhealthy) to consume, organic, raw or otherwise.

See NoWhey.org for more info.

Chakra, I'd LOVE to hear the "real" Whey story.

Sith:

I looked at your referenced site, all the harm it mentions is if you're lactose intolerant.

Yes, TOO MUCH animal protein (as with anything) is not good for you. Respected and taken in moderation (as with anything), it'll treat you well.

Uh .. unless you're a vegetarian. Or lactose intolerant! ;)
