Hey there Carrie! Check out a book called TAPPING THE HEALER WITHIN by Roger Callahan PhD. This book is recommended in Kevin Trudeau's books.

Hi all, I quit smoking for eight years and then got started back when I met my current husband.I used the patches the first time.I had tried to quit about 10 times before and failed. What finally worked for me was changing my whole lifestyle basically.I know it is almost impossible to quit if you are really stressed out, so #1 is try to reduce your stress level. I had to stop drinking any alcohol, caffiene also makes you want to smoke. Then everytime I would start to want to smoke, I would do some exercise. It is hard to smoke if you are out of breath,LOL.I also changed my eating habits to more healthy eating (fruits and veggies) and drink plenty of water, that helps to flush the nicotene out of your system faster. After 5 days of not smoking, your body is nicotene free and starting to repair itself.I have tried everything to quit and the only thing I can tell you that really works is , just make your mind up and then do whatever you have to do to never smoke that first cigarette. The urge will pass quickly if you can just divert your mind to something else for a few minutes. And I thought of the cravings as enemies, waiting for me to be weak and then attacking.Just remember, the only cigarette that you have to worry about is the first one after you quit, if you never take that one, you have it whipped! That isn't so hard to think about, not like NEVER smoking again! That is too big to wrap your mind around.Just think about that one cigarette.Hope this helps someone to quit, smoking is the worst thing I can think of that you can do to yourself. If anyone needs any support feel free to contact me.I am currently another "non-smoker" since I have recently quit again. I hope that I will be as successful this time as I was the last time, when I quit for 8 years. YES, that 1st cigarette got me and I have smoked for the last 9 months. I am doing good so far.wish me luck!
