Hello friends, as many of you, I'm a parent and want only what's best for my children. I'm curious if any of you have tried to teach the principles of the LOA to your kids? My wife and I are going to sit down and watch "The Secret" with them and see what they think.

What a powerful tool for kids to grow up with if they are able to grasp the concept, right?? Anyone else? Any advice? Any good stories?

Hello WoRm, How wonderful to share with your children the dynamics in LOA. The nice thing I found with viewing the movie, is chipping away at it in small increments. With kids, sitting there watching a documentary for a lengthy time could create boredom. However, with conversation throughout the possibilities are endless with topics of discussion, etc. With hindsight being what it is, how wonderful it would have been if the movie existed while I raised my 5 children. You're a lucky parent! Best of luck.

I have been working on my 20 year old daughter now for a couple of years and some of it is wearing off- I think, LOL- I always buy her a book for her birthday and for Christmas and sometimes one during the year if I find a good one I like. She has actually started reading some of them, I know as one of her friends told me so I take that as a good sign. We just have to keep up the good fight and expose them to it even if we don't think we are getting through we are.

Thanks Thale, It's a good idea. Last night was my first attempt on engaging her. I was watching it and she came in and asked what it was. I said it's about teaching us to learn to think differently so the things we want in life will come to us easier. Well she didn't even pause before saying "That won't work" I laughed and said not if you think like that and her reply was "Well I tried to think positive "one time" like you said and nothing happened". LOL It's going to be fun showing her differently.

I just wanted to add my comments to this post. I have five children myself and when my husnband and I watched the movie this last summer, we tried to get them to watch it with us, however they found more important things to do. Funny though a few days went by and our oldest daughter Sam, came to me and told of an issues she was having in class with a girl who had some learning disabilities and could not see very well. She explained to me that the teacher was making her sit next to this girl and help her (not an issue, sam loves helping) however, this girl was becoming overbearing and sam was not getting her personal work done. I explained the principles of the Law of Attraction to her, she said oh mom that will never happen. I told her to visualize this girl being moved to another location in the class and it being the teachers choice to do this. I had no idea if she had taken this to heart but a few days went by and she came home all excited with her news. The teacher had decided to move the girl to the very front of the class and then to follow to a specialized class. She is now a believer in the Secret.

I had my 15 yr old son watch it with me once. He is so sweet, he would watch a Beethoven piece if I asked him to. My point is, I don't think he was very interested. I was watching him and the look on his face showed me he thought it was crazy. I talked with him a little about it and as he sat nodding yes, I know he was saying no. I will try it again later but I try to mention things with LOA and organic living to teach him and put little things in his head. If he practices any of it, at least I tried and will continue trying.

Thanks Lisa, pretty much have the same reaction from my 13 yr old, but she is watching my change in eating habits, cleansing, and the fact that I am now prescription free !!!!!! Just shakes her head when she hears me doing affirmations under my breath, lol but the important thing to remember she IS watching me.

I too am wanting to teach LOA to my children. They are 4 & 2. My two year old is too young to understand now but by living it as a family maybe it will be second nature to him. We tell our four year old to image what he wants. We are also starting a dreamboard together as a family. My four year old wants to put pics of Disney World & the pet snake he wants. I think when kids are this young it is easy to influence them with your beliefs, especially since their is not much exposure to outside influences, peer pressure. We jokingly ask our 4 yearold if he wants to eat at McDonalds & his reply "No! Thats not healthy!" Thank God I get to teach them healthy eating at a young age.

Hi WoRm,

I shared this with my grandchildren, ages 7 & 9. They got a little bored, but picked up the principles...kinda. The 7 year old granddaughter started carrying around a picture of a cat that she wanted and her parents did not want. I am VERY allergic (triggers an asthma attack - I kinda like breathing lol ). Kinda backfired on me.

So, my suggestion is to be careful because it is a powerful tool and they may wish for things that are not the best thing for them.

I just joined this forum recently and your original post was back in Sept. How is it going with them?

Have a great day!

Linda

My 25 year old lives by the secret and had me watch it a year ago when things were really going bad in my life. I bought the audio version and listen to it quite often. In December my brother was near death from a motorcycle accident. I bought him the audio as he was unable to speak, move but I knew he could hear. He truely believes that the tape helped him in his recovery. I suggest it to soooo many people as I do believe it can help anyones life and why not live positively!

My little brother who's 12 yrs old told me a friend of his from school was reading "THE SECRET".So I went straight to my room into my library and pulled out my copy of this wonderful book and handed it over to him. I dont know if he grasps the idea yet. Its real difficult for someone his age to understand that everything that he ever beleived about life might be wrong. I figured i should give it to him to anyways, they need to be familiar with these types of mind-expanding ideas and the potential power that rests on their shoulders. It's always much better to lead by example and my little brother knows from observing my expereince the extent i use my mind to create certain events. I think teaching your kids about ideas such as your thoughts become things and the power of positive thinking would be a great starting point, especially the positive thinking because i see allot of kids who seem depressed and thats completely not normal child nature to be so. I hope this was helpful,

I have been trying to teach my kids the law of attraction.

I have a story. Last summer 2008, my youngest said that he wanted to go to seaworld. We had no money and were absolutely broke. I refrained from saying anything about not being able to afford it and told him that I'm sure he would be able to go if he believed. So he started saying we're going to seaworld.

Anyway, out of the blue three days later one of my friends calls up and says she want to take me and the kids to seaworld. I was absolutely amazed, still am actually.
