Thanks. I have that cook book too. I hadn't made that bread yet because I was concerned with how strong the onions would be. I'll do like she did and reduce the amount of onions in the recipe.
Ok, sorry it took so long to get back. First I didn't have large yellow onions, then I had to travel for work, but tonight I took my recipe out and mixed it up. A couple of notes - 1st time you always learn - I only chopped up 2 large yellow onions and it looked like an enormous amount of onions compared to what she used in the video. In fact I have a large cutting board and it was covered an piled! She said she used less, but I thought that was most likely 2 onions instead of 3 - wrong. This makes a LOT - the whole sheet was covered and I thought it might need to be thinner yet. Next time, I use 3 onions and 2 sheets! Will let ya'll know how it turns out. :-)
Final note on Onion Bread Recipe: I had to continue dehydrating for an additional 4 hours after removing the food from the teflex sheet for a total of 16 hrs the second dehydration period. I let it cool and tasted it and wasn't impressed. At that point I figured I would not make it again. The next day I tasted it and agreed with the girl that did the video that the onion flavor was too strong. Like Marilyn, I love onions, so this was a little hard to believe. Then I tried it with my salad and fell in love. I guess I was so hungry for crackers or something to go with my salad - it was really good. Since then I grab a piece and just snack on it and I really like it. The onion flavor is not too strong now - I guess I just had to get used to them. I will be making this again - bought more large yellow onions tonight! They are not crisp like crackers so I guess they need to dehydrate longer. Next: flax seed crackers.
