Anyone Use Foot Orthodics For Better Health?!

I saw in Kevins book that he recommends wearing foot orthodics for just about everyone of every age. They support the alignment of the body and help with painful feet, legs, etc. Has anyone tried foot orthotics? I thought I might buy me and my husband a pair of these since we are both on our feet alot. Me chasing around a two year old and him at work. We both complain about our legs and feet hurting. I saw an advertisement for Walk Fit Orthotics....did anyone see this informercial? I might try them but I dont want to waste my money. The ones in Kevins book are WAY too expensive and these claim to be just as good.

No Cayce, can't say that I even ever thought about trying them! I hope you get some good feedback to this.

Cayce, I saw this infomercial as well and thought they looked so cool! I get really sucked into these late night infomercials when I can't sleep. It's BAAAD, like hypnotizing or something! Remind me to not purchase any more magic knives....boy what a gimmick that was!

Anyway, I have great magnetic shoe insoles, but I'm sure it's not the same as orthotics. I also find it strange that it's like a "one size fits all" kinda thing. Each of us has different alignment and body structures/issues and I think if I wanted to pay for good ones, I'd want them custom made to correct anything I had going on too, no? Just a thought. Like to correct hips that are a bit off, a leg that's a slight bit longer, one arch a bit more fallen than the other, you get the point. When I was on the cross country team, I had to find a specially made shoe for running for my back. There's pronation, supination, so many factors involved that its hard for me to buy into the one form for all bit. Just picture going in to buy sneakers-you know how some hurt your feet right away walking in the store and they are just 'off'?. Unless they are adjustable somehow, it seems kinda too good to be true to me.

There are SO many things I see that I want to do, but I just have to win the lotto first I guess. hehe.
Do you have specific problems with arches hurting or anything else? Alignment at the feet and spine are all connected I guess. I really do like this idea! I guess I should put them on the Christmas list....LOL.

Rachel,

Hey! I know what ya mean about wanting a good quality product if you are gonna pay the money. You can get them made your size but I don't think they are as custom made as the ones the docs prescribe. I haven't ordered anything yet! My feet hurt me alot since Im on them alot and I tend to get knocked out of alignment pretty quick like since im so active. Especially since Im cycling now and joggin again...my back has been hurting me! I only get to go to the chiro once a month right now so I try to make the best of it. Im not sure what to do! I think it would be nice to have a good pair though!

Good points, RachelA ... I have a friend who gets hers made up. I believe they are covered by health insurance so I have no idea what the cost is. But it does make sense that they should be "custom fit". Have you looked into anything like that, Cayce? What is the cost for the ones in the infomercial?? What do they claim to do?

Mel,

If you google Walk Fit Orthodics you will find the site! They claim to help with foot, leg, and knee issues by taking the strain off the body by keeping it in aligment. Although I guess it wouldn't help if you are already out of alignment unless you are seeing a good chiropractor. They are something like $20.00 special right now! They usually run about $100.00 and you do get to get the right size for your food but I don't think they are cucstom made.

Christa,

Sounds like orthodics would REALLY benefit you! There are a few other good companies recommeneded in Kevins second book....but they are ALOT pricier than these. You may want to look into it!
