I'm a teenager with some weight issues. I have read all most all of Weight Loss protical by Kevin, but I'm having so much trouble getting started. I was wondering if there anybody has some advice for me. I'm a teen so I don't have control of whats going into the fridge. I'm also thinking that the younger you start eating healthy and avioding bad foods the healthier you will be for longer. Please help me! I really don't want to be unhappy with who I am my entire highschool career.

Hello Maria,
First you have to decide that you are willing to commit to doing what's healthy for you. Start off every day by drinking plenty of water. But don't drink tap water if you live in the city. Filtered or distilled. At least 8 glasses a day. Make this your first priority, it will help prove to yourself that you are committed to losing the pounds that you don't want, and it helps keep your digestive system to get the waste out of your system. The next thing that I would do if I were you, and that I did when I was your age, is learn how to clean out your colon. Do some research on what this is about. I started when I was 14. I am now 46 years old with the body of a 19 year old and feel wonderful. You can lose weight just by doing this.
I look forward to conversing with you and wish you the best of luck. You can do it if you want to!
That is a really good idea. I believe thats what I need. I need to prove to myself that I am very committed and that will help me do the harder steps with more enthusiasium(sp?).
I agree with the colon cleanse, that's key to losing weight not to mention maintaining good health. I just bought one but it's probably the most expensive one out there, the Oxy Powder one. I'll have no weight to lose but I'll let you know how it goes. Generally you can get one for less than $15 though on websites like Puritans Pride, or Iherb.com. Be careful though, you're a teenager and I've had people before think I had an eating disorder when I mentioned I was on a colon cleanse (they figured I was doing it for the laxative properties) and I don't want you to run into problems in that area. I would also do research on Coconut oil and Apple Cider Vinegar (both organic of course), a lot of people have lost weight just taking a couple tablespoons of those a day, and they're both amazing for your health even if you don't lose weight. Good luck!
My mom read KT's first book and actually bought the coconut stuff! I tried to use it in a recipe, but it was very gross. When I look at it it makes me want to gagg. How do you suggest I take it in?
Raw is probably the best. Start little by little. You can first try it out by spreading it on bread and eating it. Don't worry if you don't like it right away, a lot of these foods take getting accustomed to. Afterall, it is a very big change for most people.
Maria, Being happy with who you are is about much more than weight! The skinny girls are NOT necessarily happy or even healthy. First, look up EFT (www.emofree.com or www.mercola.com) and try it. You have to LOVE yourself and ACCEPT yourself completely first. The rest will follow.
You're very smart to be reading KT and looking for healthy ways that will improve your health and not harm it.
It's hard to choose what to eat when you don't have control of what goes in the fridge. You will always be confronted with junk foods. You have to become strong enough to avoid them. You can do this mentally and physically.
What types of food does your family buy? Is there a way to ask them for certain things?
I totally agree with you, naturenut, about being happy with yourself. Peer pressure is a hard thing to deal with, so don't be afraid to be yourself, you might possibly earn some respect and become a trendsetter......
It's not that I don't accept myself. Sometimes I do feel sad when I can't buy cute clothes and it makes me hate going shopping, but I love myself all the same. I think I am very pretty and anybody who says different can't see past a little weight.
Naturenut...Love and Accept yourself first is so importantant...this is the foundation for everthing...if you feel self loathing and a state of denial..you will always be on the crazy 8 of life...a crazeee roller coaster....
i used to be about 15 pounds overweight and honest to God, i was so clueless about how to lose weight. My mom told me to cut back on carbohydrates such as bread, sugar, rice, grains, potatoes. This was a good start. Incorporate apple cider vineger and coconut oil and a probiotic such as acidolphilus. Don't eat fast food. AT ALL. Eat plenty of veggies and fruits, as these won't make you gain weight at all. Meat is fine, if it's hormone and antibiotic free. The main thing not to eat or at least, not to eat much of is carbohydrates.
Right on the money Christa. Refined carbohydrates are a huge factor. Also, make sure to exercise, walk more, dance, play ball, weights, pilates videos...
