I have a tattoo also but i was wondering if the ink is bad for you?Cause I was thinking of getting another one.I never here Kevin talk about tattoos being bad so I'm not sure?

I would worry about ... what is it? Hepatitis B, I think you can get from getting a tattoo.

Maybe just get one of those Henna "tattoos". I think they last for a week or two.

Well, I don't know how safe even the Henna tattoos are. I have seen them at Whole Foods, but just saw some things on the internet that said they can have unsafe ingredients in them as well.

I have had mine for about 13 years and every now and then it gets "raised". It's very strange, although it doesn't itch or anything else. I'm not infected with anything as I've had tons of bloodwork recently and over the years. I also went to a reputable and sterile place. I have no idea why it gets PUFFY every now and then?? If I could do it over again, I wouldn't for the simple fact that I DO think that the body was not meant to have toxic ink permanently attached to it. Although I don't know what toxins the ink has, I'd imagine they must be in there, no? Just my 2 cents. Anyone else have this "raised" tattoo phenomenon?

I have several. You have to check out the place and make sure the needles are properly packaged. Look around the tattoo parlour - if it looks spotless, it most likely is fairly good at having sterile needles. Talk to the artist and ask what the sterilization process is. As far as the pain - that is subjective (and depends how tolerant you are) I have tattoos on the back of my neck, my ribcage and my foot. The foot is one of the most painful areas, and it didn't bother me that much. So if you get one on your leg or arm it won't hurt that much at all. Tattoos have been around for a really long time, and I haven't heard of anyone having problems from ink toxins.

Well I hope they are safe because I have one healing as we speak. It is my second one and I had no problem with the first. I would make sure your artist is using new sterilized tools and mine was constantly using antiseptic throughout the whole process. I am glad I got them.

I'm terrified of needles, so I avoided them like the plague, but both of my girls have several.

I ran across an article talking about energy meridians that stated that tatoos, body piercings and surgery can cause permanent damage to these meridians. I'd guess that how much would depend on things like where and how deep.

There is the thing with the toxins from the ink, also.

Wow I never thought about that...that bums me out, because I planned on getting plenty in the future:/ but I wouldn't want to permanently damage any meridians. Do you know any where specific?

Also I have have my ears gauged twice on both ears....is it that bad for anything?

Toki, I can't even remember the specifics of what I was reading on, it just struck me because my children both have multiple tatoos and multiple piercings. I'd heard about the pierced ears years ago and when I started hoistics, I took my earrings out and have never put them back in ... my ears have been pierced for 42 yrs. The whole thing was about scar tissue interfering with the energy pathways.

Well thank you for bringing that to my attention!

As a regular blood donor I have refrained from getting a tattoo as there is a one year deferral. Two of my children have multiple tattoos. Though they look great ... and I have considered it for myself, I have always wondered about what's in the ink.
