I consider myself an aging athelete with various old sports injuries. I also have a spinal stenosis condition, old injuries, and arthritis runs in my family as well. I try to keep active and frequently walk and exercize. I'm here in order to figure out how to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels with natural statins that do not cause pain, weakness and lethargy (which are the side effects I've been increasingly experiencing the the last 14 months).

great to hear from you. i have been eating more organic but have not started the cleansing routines i had planned. i probably need another month or so to save enough money to do it right. i want to make sure i have no excuses to screw up or stop. ..in the mean time i am preparing myself by drinking a lot more water, eating a lot better, exercizing a little more, sleeping habits a little better.. and so forth. my cholestral numbers have actually dropped considerably even by doing these few things.. but cleansing for me is inevitable..i'm saving up for it. ..ned..thank for the valentine wishes and thanks for your thoughts and prayers.. it means a lot more than i can begin to say.
peace-love,
lenny

Hi back friend! I don't know if I'm a "local expert", but I will always be honest about what I do and don't know..if I can help, I will...if not, I'll suggest another route. Someone else found this website below and I bookmarked it-maybe it can help in your ND search? I did the Master Cleanser for 18 days...so I'm happy to tell you what I've been through with that, if it can help in any way. HAPPY HOLIDAY'S to you!!! Best in life and health, Rach :-)

Lenny,

Hi, first let me apologize for not being able to get back to you sooner. I have not even had time to log into my Community Cures account for weeks. Additionally, I have wanted to be able to provide you the best info that I can.

First let me address the pain management issue and give my personal opinion as to something that I have seen work very well for joint pain, assuming that some of your pain is not being caused by the Statins as I mention in greater below. (I actually gave some to my mother who had surgery some years ago due to cartilage degeneration and the severe pain caused by the arthritis and is worked like a charm). It is the Glucosamine MSM&CMO combination manufactured by Deva Nutrition. I recognize from your post that there may be an issue of rheumatoid arthritis, but in many cases both osteo as well as rheumatoid arthritis are present. Of course rheumatoid arthritis is more of an autoimmune disease which has its foundation primarily in overall diet and lifestyle.

Usually in this condition the body is in a really toxic or acid condition; so if I were you I would obtain some pH sticks and test my pH balance 3-4 times per day (reading will be a little higher for a couple of hours directly following a meal, and upon arising in the morning) for a period of about 2 weeks to determine the average pH of the body. If the average reading (the package will show you the acid/alkaline readings meter) is acid then you know that you will need to set about alkalizing your system. This is primarily done by eating copious amounts of fruits and vegetables and eliminating, at least for awhile, foods that are known to leave an acid ash in the system i.e. flesh, and dairy products, junk foods, and sweets in general. You can read more about the acid/alkaline state of the body at my website in the free health journal section.

Parasites are also a very real issue. They can get into organs and joints etc. They can also contribute to the acid state of the body by depositing their waste into the system, not to mention their feeding off of the nutrients that you should be getting. So if I were you I would do the following in this order: 1) Get a series of colonics, maybe a week (I generally do not suggest colonics, but rather herbal cleanses, but sometimes they can be useful in cases where there is a good likelihood of parasites and other impurities in the system…it is my personal opinion however that they should not be made an habitual occurrence). 2) I would then follow the colonics up with a good herbal cleanse which would help to further cleanse the colon as well as feed the colon and the other organs with many of the nutrients found in the various herbs. 3) Then I would detox the liver after the colon. This can be accomplished with lemon juice and olive oil, beet juice, boldo leaf, or Milk Thistle. I would probably start off with a lemon juice olive oil cleanse by getting up in the morning and about an hour before breakfast squeeze the fresh juice of 5 lemons mixed in with about 2 oz of olive oil, the next day I would do the same thing but with 10 lemons, and the 3rd day the same thing, but with the juice of 15 lemons.

This can cause one too feel a little queasy, but if you lie down on your right side with a pillow underneath your hips, after 20-30 minutes the queasy feeling usually dissipates. The feeling is the result of toxins being dumped out of the liver into the bloodstream.
After that I would continue working on the liver by either buying beets and juicing them, or purchasing organic beet juice as an alternative. I would drink 3-4 oz. 3-4 times per day. No more than this though, because it also causes the liver to dump toxins into the blood stream, and drinking too much to fast will cause one to pass out. Then I would go through a series of either the Boldo leaf which is a herb, or the Milk Thistle, also a herb.

Finally I would go to the 3rd step which is the cleansing of the blood. Some great blood cleansers are herbs like Burdock Root, and Chaparral there are others as well, but these are two of the best. You can make herb teas from these, the chaparral might be better taken in capsules because it is so bitter, however the burdock root is pleasant enough to take as a tea.

Of course drinking copious amount of water is extremely important, this will also help with pain as the water helps flush the toxins out of the system. Exercise out in the sunshine and open fresh air is also essential. The sunshine is healing, the fresh air will help purify the blood as you breath off the carbonic acid, and the exercise will increase the circulation of the blood hereby invigorating the entire system.

Also consider these simple but very important tips: 1) Eat nothing between meals, no snacking, 2) Do not drink with your meals, take all fluids 30 minutes before you eat, and 1 –3 hours after you eat. 3) Do not overeat. 4) Do not lie down sooner than 3 hours after you eat. 5) Always allow 5 hours to elapse between meal times. 6) Attempt to get to bed no later than 9:30 p.m. 7) Do not mix fruit and vegetables at the same meal. Finally… the golden rule in all of this is CONSISTENCY!

With regard to cholesterol and supplements as opposed to Statin drugs…Statin drugs are dangerous. Consider the following quote from an article by Byron J Richards: “Statins Found To Turn On Gene That Causes Muscle Damage." It's now a fact of science; a new study shows that taking statins destroys your muscle to a greater or lesser degree. And let's not forget that the heart is a muscle.

Place this study juxtaposed to another rather interesting recent finding: the more fit you are the longer you will live – and the two just don't add up. How can you destroy muscle and be more fit? You can't. Sure you can drug your cholesterol number lower, but will you be healthier, fit, and live longer?

In the new study researchers found that statins activate a gene signal in muscles called atrogen-1. When this gene activates, it targets key muscle proteins for destruction. The activation of this gene drives the process of muscle atrophy and muscle wasting. It is induced in cardiac muscle in failing hearts. Why on earth would any person want this gene activated by a drug?

The researchers tested statin-taking humans who were complaining of severe muscle pain. Muscle biopsy found that the atrogen-1 gene was activated, compared to people with severe muscle pain not on statins and controls. They went on to show through various experiments that statins activate the gene. This is extremely bad news for any person taking a statin.”

Byron also notes the following… “Right now doctors ignore the majority of muscle aches and pains caused by statins, and in their mind only consider the problem serious when it is debilitating (rhabdomyolysis), which apparently happens less than 1% of the time. However, at least 5% - 7% of statin users experience significant muscle problems. The number is greater than 10% if a person is taking the now commonly prescribed higher doses. And if a person is trying to be fit and exercise, the number jumps to 25%. These numbers are clearly on the low end as it has now been shown that doctors are ignoring their patients, not reporting the side effects of statins to the FDA, and telling them the side effects they are experiencing are not from the drug!

This new science shows that as soon as the atrogen-1 gene is activated by statins it starts destroying muscle. This means that even mild aches or pains while taking a statin is a sign that muscle is being destroyed, an entirely new and sobering perspective on the side effects of statins. Statins directly work against being physically fit, as is evidenced by the difficulty statin users have exercising without troubling symptoms.

Cardiomyopathy (serious weakening of the heart muscle) is a known adverse and often not reported side effect of statin therapy, previously thought to be the result of a statin-induced coenzyme Q10 deficiency. It is likely that the combination of Q10 deficiency with atrogen-1 activation is behind this problem.

“Dr. Matthew Budoff, author of "Enhancing Heart Health," writes that cholesterol-lowering drugs like Lipitor "work by inhibiting the enzyme needed to manufacture cholesterol in the liver. However, these drugs also block the manufacture of important nutrients like CoQ10, which has been shown to benefit heart health. The other main drawback of this class of drugs is debilitating muscle pain ... Other side effects, according to the Physicians Desk Reference, include liver problems, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headaches and skin rash." Article found on Mike Adams Website

Natural Remedies

In combination with the program above, which if followed consistently would more than likely, do the trick; Niacin or B3 has been shown to be effective against high Cholesterol. In fact Dr. Julian Whitaker says, “Niacin has been around for a long time as a cholesterol lowering agent, and is the best single remedy for lowering LDL cholesterol and raising HDL”. Natural Alternatives To Lipitor, Zocar& other Statin Drugs Dr. Jay S. Cohen, M.D.

A very effective herbal remedy for cholesterol is Guggul it is Ayurvedic medicine used in India for centuries. It reduces cholesterol and it acts as an antioxidant. It also reduces platelet. This is highly recommended. There are other supplements as well but in my personal opinion such a program as outlined above would be highly effective. If you have any questions let me know or if you need help in securing any of the remedies mentioned just let me know.
