I need encouragement
It seems like whenever I make up my mind that today is the day I'm going to start eating right, I sabotage myself. Makes me crazy. I have so much weight to lose. I feel terrible and I'm fearful for my health and well being. I'm mostly an upbeat kind of person, but lately I'm just so down on myself.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Maybe you aren't capable of doing a whole day at a time, so make it one meal at a time. "Today I'll eat a healthy breakfast." That would be a good start.
I also have a lot of weight to lose, but I've come to realize that it is a lifelong journey. I have to make a lifestyle change and that is going to take time. It may take the rest of my life to change completely. I don't care. I'm in this for life and I want it to be an enjoyable trip, not something that I do begrudgingly.
You are focusing on the big picture when the journey is one step at a time.
